Bidra med feedbackA group of us visited the White Lion for a meal on Saturday 16th Sep.7.00pm and in rememberance of a dear friend lost to cancer. The pub was quieter than usual. We attempted to order at the bar as usual but found many meals not on or run out. We eventually ordered, an alternative in most cases, to what we wanted. After a considerable wait food came up. Scampi, Rock hard, Lasagna burnt, I could go on but in short will not be returning again. A complete letdown. Sorry White Lion, your standards have dropped and lost our custom.
Been a regular at the Lion for many years, lots of ups and downs in that time, it had been allowed to run down in recent years, and was hoping for good things, but initially had my concerns that the pub chain hadn't made the most of an ideal opportunity to make improvements across the board, in short a bit disappointing, however in the last 2 or three months there has been a marked improvement in service, quality atmosphere there are a few new faces behind the bar who seem to coming on well, presumably getting a higher standard of training either that or the selection process has improved. I've mark the food in the middle because I've not tried it, but what I've seen coming out of the kitchen looks pretty good. Hopefully the place continues to improve as it has been recently.
My son forgot to put his vehicle reg in the machine. He saw no signage and no staff members reminded him to put his reg in their system. Since then, for spending his money at this pub, he has been repeatedly victimised and harassed by Euro Car Parks who have now passed it onto Debt Recovery Plus. My son has attempted to contact the white lion directly, but all communications have been ignored! And the phone never gets picked up! This pub does not care about customer service and clearly charges dearly for what should be a free car park for paying customers! Disgusting and none of my son's family will go near an ember inns ever again! This is how you lose paying customers!
This is tricky as work in hospitality so understand how hard and underpaid it is but honestly I’m not sure I will be rushing back to the white lion. A lovely evening we had but for me personally the food was terrible .. I had the steak .. chewy, horrible .. left a lot of it. From the moment we sat down, sticky table and a rocky table .. asked for candles to be lit … service good.. Manager under pressure friendly but working too many hours and probably not appreciated or paid enough! But we spent a lot and had a good evening so thank you for that .. x
Starter, cheesy garlic ciabatta was lovely, scampi and the peas were both overdone, so very average. Fizz weekend was advertised for prosecco type drinks after 5pm so I tried to do this, and then was charged normal prices, was then advised it needed me to download the app, which wouldn't open the code, due to poor signal in the pub, the bartender then advised me you're only saving 2.80.... so I paid, just not great service and not advertise that you need the app to qualify. The waitresses were very efficient. Overall, maybe a 6 out of 10 for the experience.
