Bidra med feedbackVery centrally located nice little RSL tucked away on a main street. Extensive menu with very reasonable prices and good tasting food.
As usual in an RSL the wines by the glass are good value and went quite well with our $22 meals. My husband enjoyed his roast pork and my lamb cutlets were yummy. Only downside was mash tasted like packet (which surely must cost more than real potatoes?) other veggies were good - fresh beans and cauliflower. The staff are lovely and checked on us a few times which was unexpected at a bistro where you order at the bar.
I'm on a tight budget but like to join my friends out for a meal every so often, so dinner at the RSL is perfect. I love the vegetarian stir fry, it's very filling, very tasty and very cheap. My friends can afford to have more up market meals if they want, but quite often they'll order the stir fry just because it's delicious, and these are people who first looked at me as if I was using a foreign language when I said I was vegetarian. Whatever they order, they always enjoy their meals. Service is friendly and fast.
We just wanted a good meal at a reasonable price. The RSL was not busy at the earlier time of 6pm but from the time we walked in until the time we left, we were thoroughly satisfied with the staff, meal and friendliness of every one there. We eat at a lot of RSL Clubs - some good - some not so good but we loved this small cosy Club with interesting things to look at while waiting for our meal.
I had the mixed grill. Large meal but unfortunately mostly inedible. The steak was so overdone and burnt that it was only good to be taken home for the dog. The salad had no dressing and consisted of mixed greens sliced cucumber and a tiny cherry tomato cut in half.
