Bidra med feedbackThere is a lot of hype in the community surrounding this place and I cannot figure out why. I have gone three times because I gave them the benefit of the doubt. However each time they delivered the same thing, mediocre food. The drink selection is also limited. Really every time was just disappointing. Another reviewer said that it seems like they're really trying and I agree. The owners seem like really lovely and hardworking people and it makes me kind of sad to review them so poorly but I need to be honest. Maybe the restaurant business just isn't for them. There are really great restaurants in both directions on 1A. I suggest you drive past Patriot Tavern and save yourself the disappointment.
Until recently, I'd been to Patriot Tavern once in the 11 years I've lived in Walpole. This was 6 or 7 years ago when I stopped in with the intention of grabbing dinner. At the time only half the building was in use. It was just a dingy bar that only accepted cash and served no food, not even chips. Needless to say I had one drink, took my hungry self elsewhere, and spent the next few years driving by the place like it didn't exist. I just tried the place out after the reopening under new management. They've done a great job with the remodelling and it's now a nice little bar with 2 big screen TVs and an adjoining restaurant and they now serve food. The parking lot is also paved with painted parking spots instead of the old mud lot that matched the pre-renovated interior. The menu is reasonably priced and has comfort foods like meatloaf, turkey dinner, steak tips, and a pot roast. They also have a salmon dish and a steak dish (I think a flat iron). There's assorted appetizers that I didn't pay attention to so I'm not sure what they consist of. I tried the pot roast and it was very good, tender, and flavorful. It came with glazed carrots and mashed potatoes. They've done a nice job with this place, credit/debit cards are now accepted, and there's now another good dining option for the Walpole area. If you're like me and have always thought of this place as a joke, please try it again, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Yelp should also purge the reviews for this restaurant that are dated before the reopening and start over. It's not fair to the new owners to have the old ratings and reviews averaged in with the current ones as this place is night and day in comparison to what it once was.
Went to see a friends band last night and was surprised how good the seafood was. Finally a place in Massachusetts that can fry seafood without the batter falling off when you touch it. Drinks were well made. Service was great. I'll be back.
So I went with my sister and her husband for the first time. I ordered the Belgian Waffle with strawberries. The waffle looked to be homemade which is great but was very tiny like two pancakes stacked. Was no where near the normal 2+ inch most are. The whip cream was out of a can as you could see the nozzle marks. Not overly bad. It really....it takes 30 seconds to make whip cream. The fresh cut strawberries oh wait....that would make to much sense. I got a bowl of canned strawberries that were mushy, grayish and disgusting looking. All this for only $7.99! Also ordered a side of home fries for $2.50. They weren't bad but the $2.50 side was about a large tablespoon worth of fries. Ambiance was nice and wait staff were nice but if you want fresh home cooked food this is not the place to go. 6/18/18- Update: over a year passed and I get a response from them for this review. They offered me a gift certificate if I'd come back and if I could provide an email and address. I did that about a month ago and still nothing nor a response. I suppose they did the online response here to look better but with this response a huge fail. They do. It follow through not nor deserve your hard earned money for McDonalds food.
Came here on a rather busy Friday evening 10 days after the grand re-opening. The restaurant is under new management and they are trying to shake the long time stigma of the existing 'dive-bar '. Overall we had a very positive experience, the atmosphere was warm and inviting and the comfort food hit the spot. The meals came somewhat quickly and while my spouse 's was fresh off the grill mine had cooled just a tad. The menu was varied and the portions were reasonably sized. With any new establishment I 'm sure there were be kinks to work out but, so your mileage may vary, but it 's close to home so we 'll be back.
