House of Sake - Walnut Creek

A cozy, inconspicuous space that’s tucked away with amazing fresh sushi. The staff is friendly and attentive alongside the Michelin quality food. Hands down the best tempura I’ve ever had. Light, fluffy, crunchy and need I say more? Thanks to the staff for a wonderful experience!

The House of Sake is tied with a lesser known spot on the Monterey Peninsula as my fave places to eat in the world EVER! And its even actually gotten better with their spicy edamame! If you get one item there it has to be the Godzilla Roll which I usually pair with a seaweed salad, edamame and orders of Maguro Unagi Nigiri. If I can eat more I 'll order more Nigiri or their delicious Tempura. Of course those are always accompanied by a large hot Sake a large Sapporo. So Yum! As is the cucumber crab salad that automatically comes before the meal the pineapple plum wine that comes after. This IS really THE place to go in Walnut Creek for sushi even though it 's not exactly downtown, off the beaten path next to a 711! It 's a bit locals place! I didn 't know I loved sushi until I went there 24 years ago. I learned to use chopsticks there that day. Since I 've had many of my most memorable times at the House of Saki there 's a perfect area in the back for bday parties and once my bff (RIP Kritter) I got the bottle of plum wine at the end of the night and ended up tossing a foot all around with some of the staff in the parking lot after hours then walked to my condo down the street. I lived in WC for 37 years and have since been to other sushi 's places (obv) but of those 37 years I 've been a very frequent patron of this place for 24 of those years. I even went there on my first 'official ' first date with my husband. It 's a special place for many people the food is just as special.

Love almost all dishes at this place. I’m always down for miso soup and it’s always so good.

I have been living in a walk distance of this place for a while now and I have never tried it before. Today I went there with a friend and it has been a revelation. This place is nice, not expensive and really good. I don't know why I waited that long to go there.
