Pizzeria La Gondola - Vienna

My girlfriend and I were in Vienna, looking at different restaurants were open and chanced upon La Gondola. The restaurant owners greeted us very warmly and seated us down. What happened next, was stuff of legend. The Wiener Schnitzel and Goulash, delicious. The best Wiener Schnitzel in Vienna despite may I add, it being an Italian restaurant. Nevertheless, I would like to thank the owners who were so pleasant and who gave us the nicest of evenings. Thank you we will come again when in Vienna.

I have travelled the world and this place is without doubt the worst Italain food I have even ordered. The fact that it is run by Indian( no offence as we love that cuisine) should have been a warning. The pizza was on a supermarket base with toppings and looked bad and tasted worse. My wife ordered tortellini with salmon and she only ate the salmon. The sad thing was because of who we are we paid for it. Please avoid this place there are many good options across the road or in the streets nearby. Overpriced for very ordinary food!!!!!!!

We were there for lunch on 24. December as this was unfortunately the only restaurant open in the area. Pizza was below average, but worst is that we paid cash and did not receive a printed or hand-written bill. Afterwards we found out that they charged us too much. We will not go there again.

My friends and I were looking for a quiet place to eat while wandering the streets of Vienna. We stumbled across La Gondola and prices seemed reasonable. The meal was pleansst enough at first, although they struggled to handle us paying with card and cash together. By the time we had got back to the hostel two of us were very ill. I was throwing up throughout the night and my friend projectile vomited before he even made it back to the hostel. My third friend woke up this morning and was also very ill. When one person is ill after a restaurant it's perhaps unlucky, two a little extreme and three unacceptable. We are certain it was the food as all of us felt somewhat ill within an hour of eating. I don't normally write reviews but this level of food health and safety is simply unacceptable. Avoid.

The food was a mess and did neither look nor taste italian, or even descent. I could've made better pasta at home anyday. The service was non-excistent. The food was way too expensive compared to quality. The worst food I have ever eaten anywhere, and left both me and my companion disappointed. I'm sorry to say this, I'm sure the owners are good people. But the food was truly terrible and the only explanation for all these good reviews would be that they were written by the owner's friends.
