Origin Gluten-free Bakery - Victoria

I was so excited to find a bakery that was all gluten free!! There is a good variety of baked items from bread and buns to cookies, cakes and desserts. We had a savoury spinach and feta galette for lunch that was amazing! My husband said he would never have known that it was gluten free and it was delicious. Their “everything cookie”. Was moist and chewy and very tasty. I highly recommend checking out this bakery if you want high quality gluten free baking!

I am lucky in that I live in an area with plenty of gluten free options. We stopped in here, hoping to find something that we liked. We picked up a couple of cupcakes and a spinach tart.I love spinach, so I figured that was a homerun for me. It tasted of old seaweed. I can only guess they use frozen spinach. The pastry itself was also too salty...but it wasn't dense, so I'll give a point for that.The carrot cupcake we bought had decent crumb but no flavor at all. It was bland. There wasn't even a cinnamon bite to it, let alone bits of carrot or anything to indicate it was carrot cake. The apple something one we bought was oily and disintegrated upon opening the muffin liner. The taste was also just oily...though there was a background note of the apple.I really wanted to like this place more.Parking was confusing, as Google maps takes you to the wrong side of the building. It is free though. The person who helped us was frazzled but friendly. I hope they can do better going forward.For now, I highly recommend going to downtown and swinging by a coffee shop down there with gluten free goodies. They do it well.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing. Im allergic to dairy, gluten and almonds so it’s hard to find anything I can eat. I’m visiting from California where there is a good deal of gf/df options but I’ve been disappointed every time. I was excited to see a gf bakery here and travelled an hour by bus to get to it and I’m so happy I did. I got the chocolate ganache cupcake (which is a smaller version of of the chocolate ganache cake) and a scone. The chocolate ganache cupcake was so delicious and moist and not too sweet and I nearly cried eating it (I’m not a crier). It’s been so long since I’ve been able to enjoy a pastry and I’m so incredibly happy. The scone was dry and a little gritty but tasted fantastic and was great with some tea. Together the two came to under $10 CAD which was shocking bc in California it would have been easily double that or more. Highly highly HIGHLY recommend. I wish I could get this cake delivered to California for my birthday but delivery is unfortunately only within Canada. So sad! I’d pay good money for this cake.Thank you for letting me enjoy pastries again, even if it was just for one day. It made my trip for sure.

Great selection of gluten free baked goods. We tried 4 different items, and they were all delicious. Textures were quite close to their wheat versions so that was extra nice. Service was friendly and done with a smile. Was just visiting Victoria so didn't get a chance to return, but I highly recommend this bakery.

My husband is celiac and dairy free. It is great to be able to go to a bakery where he can eat. Being celiac often means compromising on flavour and or texture. The recipes are all delicious and it’s easy to find what he can and cannot eat. We are now regulars.
