Osteria Da Luca - VENEZIA

A hidden little local gem. Amazing food, fresh ingredients and the cicchetti and tramezzini were just the best. Very reasonable prices too.

We visited here on a Friday night for food and drink. It was very busy with locals so interesting to people watch as they enjoyed their Friday night. Friday night is fish night bear that in mind. We looked at the menu and the owner came to help us with the translation. He suggested dishes to us which we did not really understand to be honest. The first dish was a fish sharer one each which was a bit much but tasty. One diner had pasta and a ragu sauce. The next fish dish was not really what we expected, lots of fried fish with no salad or anything else really, it was difficult to eat and one diner left theirs. One diner has steak and potatoes which they said was nice. The bill was circa £40 a head which was very expensive in my opinion. The reaction of the owner when we left the second dish was not good. The meal may well have been enjoyed by someone who really likes fish but a fish course followed by a fried fish course is not really my idea of a balanced meal. The overall bill included a couple of drinks for everyone just glass of wine and beer. If you go just make sure you can understand Italian. We did not quibble on the bill even though I think we could of because we appreciated our lack of understanding Italian was an issue.

Mestre is located on the mainland in the Veneto just outside of Venice. Osteria Da Luca is an excellent restaurant with wonderful cuisine and a warm and inviting atmosphere. Here you will find authentic Venetian cuisine and wonderful seafood. Please don't confuse this restaurant with the one in Venice that has the same name (which is not a good restaurant).

Piccola osteria con un arredamento rustico dai tempi antichi, che serve piatti del giorno e i tipici cicchetti. Ho assaggiato la torta di carciofi, semplice e gustosa, e le polpette perfette. Il personale è super cordiale e il servizio è veloce. Sarà il mio posto fisso quando tornerò a Mestre!

Piccola osteria con mobili rustici di epoca antica, che serve sia piatti del giorno che tipici cicchetti. Ho assaggiato la torta di carciofi, semplice e gustosa, e le polpette erano perfette. Il servizio è semplice, amichevole e veloce. Sarà un punto fisso quando tornerò a Mestre!
