Hippopotamus - Vannes

Good food and service steak was excellent and the sharing platter good value. Overall pleasing and excellent as usual.

A cold Wednesday night in early May, Hippo Vannes, then very quiet, broke the 1st rule of restaurants service is always worse in a quiet restaurant compared to when it is busy] by giving us attentive but not intrusive service. The food was normal good Hippo fare as expected. Good value for money

Overpriced and not brilliant food. The staff are borderline rude. If you want a steak house then go to Buffalo Grill it's cheaper and has more atmosphere!

We were there today at 11.30, they made us wait outside until 11.45 as they were not ready, a little unusual as we thought we should just be seated and wait inside as it was open. Four children 6 and under, two adults. Seated and perfectly positioned right next to playground entrance! The kids played and screamed (its remarkably soundproof too : while the lovely waitress attended to taking our order. Chips and bread were brought to the table as appetiser.. my family are vegetarian and the waitress organised some lovely sides for the kids, and a huge salad for me, some of the sides for us were gratuit which was amazing. Dessert also able to be vegan with sorbet.. and delicious coffee to finish off the meal. The food was plentiful and tasty, the place was clean, inviting, had colouring books for the kids and little extras. I hope to return before I leave Vannes!
