Bidra med feedbackI recently dined at a small sushi restaurant that serves some of the best food I've ever tasted. The dishes are made to order and the service is top-notch. My only issue is that the restaurant closes early.
The restaurant has a new name, as seen in the photos of the front entrance. It is conveniently located just a few steps away from the Vancouver library. A local friend pointed out two other places across the street that only offer rolls, with no nigiri or sashimi, so this restaurant is definitely superior. The prices are affordable (my bento box was $11), the service is quick, and the restaurant is clean. It is the top choice in the area. Don't miss the chance to see the cute sushi cat when you visit.
This restaurant seems to be undergoing some changes. Although it is called Sushi Library, the staff were all wearing red Tokyo Joe t-shirts. It appears to be more geared towards the lunch crowd, as there were empty display cases that likely held pre-made sushi earlier in the day. I decided to try the Chirashi Don, which came with various pickles and savory bites that complemented the fish well. However, the tempura piece that accompanied the dish looked like a McDonald's hash brown and tasted like freezer food from the back of the restaurant. Despite this, the other ingredients in the chirashi were fresh and flavorful. Priced at almost $15.00 with a complimentary plastic cup of tea, it may not be the most affordable option, but it felt healthier compared to other nearby choices.
Ok so the name has changed see my pictures of the front entrance. It is literally steps from the Vancouver library. Very convenient.A local peer showed me two other places right across the street that only have rolls and no nigiri/sashimi - this is better. They are cheap (my bento was $11) and fast, and clean. Best thing in the area. Go just to see the cute sushi-cat.
This restaurant seems to be in some sort of transition. It calls itself Sushi Library but the two staff were wearing red Tokyo Joe t-shirts. I think it caters more to the lunch crowd as there were empty cooling cases that probably hold pre-made sushi earlier in the day. I had a Chirashi Don that came with a number of little bites of pickles and savory bits that added to the fish nicely. It was also served with a tempura piece that looked exactly like a McDonald's hash brown and came out of the grubby freezer that sits in the far end of the narrow little restaurant. It tasted like freezer food too so could stick to my diet after one assessing bite. The other chirashi ingredients were somewhat fresher and tastier. At nearly $15.00, with a complimentary plastic cup of tea, it's not exactly cheap but felt healthier than some nearby choices.
