Bidra med feedbackOnce at home, we plated our dishes to make them look appealing. The Nasi Lemak, a favorite snack of ours, consisted of crunchy fried anchovies and peanuts over rice with shrimp paste, sambal, and cucumbers—a delicious bargain at only $4.95. Shiok offers a variety of small items under 'Snacks' category, allowing you to sample a range of dishes tapas-style. One such item we tried was Otak-Otak, a spicy minced fish cake grilled in banana leaf, which I found to be savory and flavorful. I couldn't resist ordering the Roti Prata, which was still excellent even after being brought home. The flaky roti paired well with the curry chicken dip. The Jook was another standout dish, reminiscent of Marie's Arroz Caldo but with a stronger ginger flavor. It was rich and satisfying, with tender chicken pieces adding to its appeal. Although chicken rice has never been a personal favorite, I found Shiok's version to be quite enjoyable. The moist chicken and flavorful rice, infused with ginger and sesame oil, made for a satisfying meal. Lastly, the Beef Rendang was a winner for me, with its tender beef slow-cooked in a coconut curry sauce. At $50, our order seemed steep at first, but it turned out to be enough for two meals for both of us, making it a good value for the quality and quantity of food we received. I didn't get a chance to see the dining room, as it remained closed, but I look forward to visiting in the future.
