Bidra med feedbackUndeniably dimsum is meant to be enjoyed in a group, we went only with 2 people. <br/ <br/ Everything here is bigger than the original one, but still the taste is nice. The durian mochi is quite expensive but it's magical. I really recommend people who can bear the smell try this. The harcow was nice too. The glutinous rice was a bit weird... The Xiao long bao was a bit let down though, there was no juice coming out. But overall, we had a great lunch with only $12 par. Next time, I'll bring a crowd here. <br/ <br/ The only upsetting thing is the staffs are all Hong Kong people. They used their language with my Taiwanese friend and we don't really understand anything. But the food communicated for itself.
Sorry this ap is messing up. I haven't been to this place and I definitely didn't rate it. Seems like there is no way of getting out of commenting or rmovin my comment once it's done?
Theyre now under new management (Again) and they have quite a variety of dimsum items that i have yet to seen elsewhere like smoked salmon salad on crispy wonton skins and they even had steamed mushroom buns that were shaped like shiitake mushrooms! So adorable!
My first meal at a dim sum house. Look, I have not led a sheltered life, but I haven 't eaten at a restaurant specializing in dim sum before. So I jumped at the chance to go to Golden Lake for Saturday brunch with a food fanatic group I belong to. I was there as much to learn about the vibe of this kind of restaurant as I was to eat dim sum. It was fun to do this as part of a dozen people at the table, because we wound up ordering 36 dishes some duplicates) and nine plates of dessert.<br/ <br/ Pluses for me were the taro/pork dumplings because I liked the crunch of the fried taro that coated the outside like shredded wheat. The prawns with walnuts were so good that everybody else cleaned off the two plates of that before I got a chance to eat any : The onion pancakes had a nice fried dough texture but no onions that I could detect, and the chicken sausage version of cha siu bao were too white flour gloopy for me. Overall, everybody at our ethnically mixed table, including the Asians, was satisfied with the food.<br/ <br/ Because this was my first time, I don 't know if it 's traditional for the food deliverers I wouldn 't elevate their status by calling them 'waiters ' to just dump the food dishes on the Lazy Susan as abruptly as they could. Everything came in a rush, waves of plates. It felt like we were hogs they were slopping. Maybe they rushed because it was such a busy place. Golden Lake is popular at lunch! The managerial staffers who took our order and settled our bills were polite and efficient. I 'd go back, if I could find 11 other people to join me.
Decent dim sum for the Burnaby area. And the service was attentive and friendlier than the usual Chinese restaurant.
