Caffè La Tana - Vancouver

We arrived at 11 am and were the first guests of the day. The welcome was warm, and everyone was incredibly polite and friendly. However, the servers seemed overly attentive, checking in on us about whether everything was okay more than four times, asking if we were still working on our food over five times, and inquiring if they should take our plates away three times, among other interruptions. It felt quite rushed. They presented us with the bill even though we hadn't asked for it, and it was only 12 pm when I glanced at the clock. I couldn't understand the urgency since the restaurant was less than half full on a Monday morning. We had ordered wine as it was a birthday brunch I was treating my friend to, but I can't really recall the taste of the food as our $130 brunch felt rushed.

We tried the whipped ricotta crostino, and it was one of the best appetizers I have ever had—absolutely a must-try! They also offer the full Pepinos menu, providing plenty of options to choose from. The ambiance is both elegant and casual, with beautiful decor throughout. The bar area, featuring stunning green countertops, is particularly eye-catching. Caffé La Tana is definitely worth a visit, even if it’s just for a drink and some appetizers!

I’m thankful I don’t live in the neighborhood, or I would be here every day! It has been a long time since I enjoyed a meal this much. The flavors were spot on, the portion sizes were perfect, and the staff was incredibly friendly. I had the heirloom tomato salad, the pasta special, and the tiramisu, and I’m still dreaming about them!

Excellent food. I had the Sungold Tomato and Burrata Bruschetta (excellent), the daily pasta feature in red sauce (vegetarian also excellent although not the biggest portion) followed by possibly the best Tiramisu I’ve ever had. Highly recommend and I’ll be back!

Caffe La Tana is one of my favourite lunch spots for pasta and sandwiches. Their daily featured pastas are always freshly made with very simple ingredients yet extremely tasty and satisfying. Service is always attentive. Our server was able to answer our questions and make proper recommendations based on our dietary restrictions. Ambiance was perfect, it is a small caffe but very cozy and has an old retro European vibe.
