Bidra med feedbackIt's a casual place. The food is good, though somewhat expensive. Some items seem reasonably priced, but the portions are small (tacos); others are toward the high end but ample (burgers). I've never had a dish I didn't like, though I haven't tried nearly everything. The wait staff has always been very friendly and helpful.I've always been able to find free parking reasonably close by even when it was busy in the area--lots of turnover, I guess.I will return when in the UBC area.
It 's a typical bar with typical bar food burgers and tacos etc. and quite bar atmosphere with a lot of TVs playing different games. I have been there quite a few times and service is usually decent. Prices are reasonable, given there are not other bars near by. Unfortunately, last time 03/15/2023 I was there I had not a very positive experience as the waiter spilled the mayonnaise all over my jacket. She didn 't apologize and also didn 't bring anything to clean the mess from my chair or my jacket. I had to ask her for towel which she brought 10 minutes later. Also there was a big mess of tissue papers on my table which she didn 't clean while Inwas there. Not very nice! When I got the bill there was 18 automatic gratuity included. It seems that the performance of this particular waiter is very sporadic and moody.
I ordered the Biercraft burger with frites, a shareable miso gravy poutine, and my boyfriend ordered three different tacos. He wasn’t a fan of the tacos they weren’t anything special. The poutine was okay; the cheese curds were cold and the gravy was extremely watery but it was a rather large portion for a lower price. The burger I had was drenched in oil, to the point I used an entire unfolded napkin wiping my hands. However, it was juicy, flavourful, and the oil probably was a factor. Highly recommend the burger!
Would like to give 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up.Came here for lunch with a friend the other day. (She had been here often in the past, as she lives on the UBC campus. She spoke highly of the beer flights and the patio outside in the summer . I was immediately impressed by the ample and free street parking outside, and how large and cavernous the restaurant interior was. It reminded me of a humongous winter lodge: lots of exposed wood beams, super high vaulted ceilings, lots of tv's mounted on walls (all were showing sporting events , sturdy wood tables and chairs.... One could easily see how this place would be popular with the university crowd. My friend and I shared a plate of 4 tacos: she had 2 spicy chicken tacos, and I had one seared tuna taco and one carne asada. The tacos were small but good. My friend loved the spicy chicken. I liked both my tacos but didn't love them. The beef top round in the carne asada was cold and chewy. The tuna was okay but there wasn't a lot of it, and what there was was smothered in a ton of pickled onions. A ton. I took 90% of the onions off. Three tacos cost $14.25, and it cost an extra $4.50 to add on an extra one. So it cost us roughly $10 each for two tacos each. (Did I mention the tacos were small? . So... I thought it somewhat pricey for what you get. That said, our server was super nice, and the ambiance of the restaurant was warm and casual. And if you're in the mood for beer, this would be a great place to go, for sure. Especially if you want to watch hockey or any big sporting event, or want to hang out with your college pals. If you're an older person just wanting a nice lunch with a friend, I'm not sure this is the ideal place.
Service was terrible. Food was tasteless.I had the fried chicken burger. Chicken was over cooked and tasteless and cold. The bun was soggy and it came with a tiny handful of cold fries. My husband had the fish and chips. Fish was ok.We ordered an appetizer that didn’t arrive until we were almost finished our entrees. We were never asked if we wanted more drinks or refills.
