Hotel Alpina Restaurant - Vals

Food is good, but the service is very bad. I complained to be ignored by an ignorant waiter. The excuse was an apprentice and a busy night in the restaurant upstairs, but it's all right to sit guests, but not to use the serenity... Everything else in Vals is of a very high service standard :

We had the best capuns ever yesterday Restaurant Alpina. You earn a 5* rating, but I got pissed off and unhappy when paying the bill Because I'm in a bottle against water, we ordered tap water, because it's really... good in Vals. To our surprise, they accused us of CHF 5. Why? Yes, someone had to open the tap, fill a bottle, bring it to the table, pour it into my glass and then carry out the empty bottle again together with my used glass, which had to be put into the dishwasher by someone. The person must start the dishwasher, they emptie the glass into the beakered. In my knowledge, Switzerland is the only country in which it charges for tap water. It is served in the USA when sitting. In Sweden you will receive it if you ask for it. Free. Yesterday we ate and drank for CHF 125, 130 incl. water. If I sit down and order only water, please go ahead and calculate, but together with food and wine?? Why are you so greedy? The best thing was on the bill they called water Val's spring water. Strange. Stop being so greedy and encouraging people to drink water instead of buying bottles. I'll probably come back to the capons, but I won't drink. Nada.

We had a great meal for dinner in the busy restaurant (its also a hotel). The decor is very modern but with lots of wood. Staff is friendly and service fast. The food was delicious they have many local specialities, such as „kapuns“. They...also serve a vegetarian option for „kapuns“ which is hard to find. We had to try this option as well and ist great! Pricing is reasonable for a good dinner.

Great regional food, really happy to find a vegetarian version of the traditional dish ‘Capuns’ a must if you wanna try local specialities... Friendly service, cosy, not too posh but elegant ambiance.
