Do consider the L Orange burger, it's a steak burger with a good sauce and pickled cabbage. Or the grilled salmon is just right with a big serving of fresh mixed greens to balance the beer. Looking a light Thai grilled shrimp salad with good dressing and toasted almonds for a bit of crunch. Very tasty! Or breaded fish with fries and a all too easy sauce to dip both the fish and fries in.
My husband and I just returned from a week in Denmark. We stayed in an apartment in Valby and had the great pleasure of dining at Cafe L'Orange the first night. I'd researched it and it was everything I hoped for. A charming restaurant with an extremely friendly, cozy atmosphere and staff and the food is just delicious! I had the Thai salad, the Curry Noodles, the Chicken burger (we were there three nights it was that good) and they were all excellent! When people talk of the gems those places they find on vacation that helped make the experience great they are talking about places JUST LIKE Cafe L'Orange.
I quite like this spot, as the service and standard of food far surpass the usual more popular Valby cafés such as Ciré (bad! Order drinks only if you have to go there! , Sommerfuglen (really incompetent service or Fy Bi (bad service, so-so food . Admittedly, the location is not as nice, but if you can live without people watching on the main drag, there are 2 very nice back patios. Brunch costs roughly the same as its competition, but there's more variety and a bit more care, such as offering 3 lovely little desserts, and delicious Greek yougurt parfaits in jars. My husband was aggrieved to learn coffee wasn't included in the price, but I normally fuel up on my own nicer coffee before setting out anyway, as I have learned is best. Burgers are also a good choice, as they come with delicious garlic mayonnaise for the fries and more inventive presentation and toppings. I have to say, however, I have been the most impressed with their salads, as decent ones are not easy dishes to acquire at normal Danish cafés. Theirs on the other hand are properly dressed and prepared. The Salad Nicoise is particularly good, as they grill tuna steaks to serve with it, and most impressive, they're served rare in the middle! Bar selections are okay, no giant standouts, although Jacobsen can be had. (It'd of course be nicer if there were a couple local or international microbrews , but their house wine is perfectly decent. In all, the smartest choice among Valby's cafés.
Very friendly service and a sun-filled room in the lunch time. We got a real(! red-fridge and an excellent brunch plate (which probably was baptized ‘tapas breakfast’ and ice cream coffee and a smoothie. All food and drink were excellent, although smoothie compared to size, was slightly expensive. Otherwise a good experience, except 30 minutes waiting for the food, despite only 4(! guests.
Come past to brunch buffet. The selection was small, but it tastes good! And super bold details with small cafe glass with fresh fruit, youghurt, cold bowl, trifli etc. The only thing was that the bread was rather dry.
