In the 1970's, I would stop here every morning on my way to work and pick up a ham cheese with mayonnaise sandwich on freshly sliced thin rye bread from the woman who ran the place. I loved her sandwiches and am happy to see the business has survived all these years.
Grew up in the apartment above this deli. Not sure if the owner is the same, but I have fond memories of this place. Sandwiches, snacks and service were always good. It was always a place that we frequented as kids. Glad to see that it is still in business.
I don 't want to be mean but the 5 star review must be from family. I live around the corner from here and never knew it existed until I searched deli near me. What attracted me was the name because I 'm Portuguese so I figured it would be good. But no. This isn 't a deli. It 's a corner store. I went in with an open mind though so I ordered the ham and turkey on white with mayo, lettuce, bacon. So the guy went back to some room and was there for a few minutes and once he came back he said sorry I can 't sell you the turkey, it 's no good. I 'm thinking to myself okay no big deal I 'll just have ham. So I asked to see it and when I asked how old it was he said it 's a week old. Mind you, all of his meats were in some cooler that didn 't look like it 's been clean and none of the meats were packaged. And the cheese ? He took that out of a Tupperware and I clearly saw mold. Totally unsanitary. So the ham didn 't look good, the cheese was gross, and he hadn 't been wearing gloves the entire time (even after holding the ham to show it to me) I was obviously hesitant at that point and this guy proceeded to tell me we 're done here and that I would be better off going someplace else. Thankfully jersey mikes was open in five points and I had the most awesome turkey and ham sandwich ever ! Please don 't go here. I felt like I 'd catch something just being in there.
Sandwiches are so delicious! Neil always uses the freshest ingredients. I usually get turkey and cheese on either a roll or sub. Bread is always nice and soft. This place is a hidden gem. I like these homemade style delis over any big chain just because I know I'm getting fresh ingredients. Neil shreds the lettuce and any other condiments right in front of you to ensure top quality. Coffee is also great and butter rolls too! Give it a try, you'll be hooked.
