Pizzeria Vesuvio - Tübingen

Took a Pizza Puglia on arriving in Tubingen. The menu outside was very useful to speedily pick my pizza and the price was not expensive. Service was very fast and the Italian waiters were quite friendly.

There are not many good Italian restaurants in Tübingen, most serve only pizza and pasta (not homemade). So I was looking for another option and we tried Vesuvio. Everything was great: risotto alla marinara, gnocchi con tartufo, pizza, melanzane al forno. Prices are great (around 9-10 pizza, 10-13 homemade pasta, 10 risotto in January 2016), same or cheaper than those in the Aldstadt (which are much worse). We'll come back to try other dishes!

During my stay in Tubingen we had Pizza for lunch delivered from Vesuvio. It was very tasty, obviously freshly made with all fresh ingredients cooked to perfection. Then later in the evening we went there for an evening meal. The staff were very polite, attentive and helpful and again the food was delicious, very fresh and plenty of it too. A colleague had a salad which looked lovely and I had spaghetti carbonara which was great. All the meals that were served looked equally good. I was particularly impressed that we were not rushed in any way and they were more than happy to let us sit and chat for while after finishing our meal and leave at our own pace which made for a much more relaxing evening. This may have been because they were not very busy which unfortunatley meant the atmosphere wasn't great but I'm sure it would be much better on a busier night.

Since we moved here in June, I'm not kidding, we have eaten here at least ten times. I love their Dorado fish dishes, my husband almost always gets the pasta special bc it's always good and my son always gets a pizza. My husband loves when they come out with the big table with the wheel of Parmesan and makes the dish in front of him and the pizza is one of the best in Tubingen!!!Over the warm months they have a great terrace which gives a feel of eating in Italy!!We also always order the house wines b/c they are from Sicily and are fabulous!!! And lastly,,, the service is always great!!! The two gentlemen that run the floor are very nice and attentive!We will always continue to go back as long as we are in Tubingen!
