Cottonwood Restaurant Bar - Truckee

Super restaurant. We had the salmon and the bastards. Lachs was a bit simple, but had a great sauce. So good that we asked for something more on the page. Super service and great wines. The bread pudding dessert was very good, but not great. We still love this restaurant.

The waitress was very accommodating as the website description and the actual menus do not match. Everything of interest was served with pork. Which friend and I don't eat. She talked to the cook that changed us with shrimp instead. Very nice of them. The food itself was probably the worst thing I've ever eaten. I think the cook's trying too hard to be fantasies instead of making food. Our omelet was filled with a salad and sweet chilli oil and served with the same side salad, made from Omelette and Haschbraun. The whole plate was covered in this sweet chilli oil. Having filled omelet in a salad makes me just wonder if someone in the restaurant ever tried? And their taste buds lost. So disgusting? We ate our salads, I had not eaten all day, so I did my best to eat over cooked shrimps. I was disappointed as there were many recommendations for good food. But our food explains why this place, with a great view and service on a Sunday was empty.

Lee and Jenn were super friendly and attentive. Wine and cocktails were delicious and the food was delicious. We had French onion soup, Cesar Salat, salmon and ribeye! All perfectly boiled and well flavored. Carrot cake was the perfect end of a great meal.

One of the best restaurants in Truckee. Great for live music. Great beer garden. The vegan meat store is a bomb. One of the best vegan burgers I also had (made from scratch patty). Could improve with vegan cheese and avocado. Really good pommes. Beer list could benefit from a variety. Beautiful views of downtown Truckee.

We had reservations for brunch at 11:15 and arrived five minutes early. Our server seated us right away as there were no other guests in the dining room. There were two tables of guests on the patio but that was it. Our server was very friendly, however it took 30 min to get our drink order after she turned it in. Our food didn't come out for another 45 minutes. The food was good but not worth waiting over an hour for. There seem to be only two servers working which is woefully inadequate. If there isn't enough help working, the owners need to come in and make up the slack.
