Mexcal - Toulouse

Not your average Mexican restaurant. Elegant, good service, and gourmet food. The options in the menu are very limited but the food was great.

Mexcal has modified its offer during the COVID crisis, but remains the best Mexican restaurant in the region. Eat a street taco just like you would in a Mexican tianguis during the Marché de Saint Auburn on Sundays (photo or order from their simplified yet still delicious takeaway/delivery menu. Delicioso! Je ne sais plus comment j'ai découvert ce restaurant. Les méandres d'internet. Le décor est agréable, avec une expo de peinture. La musique n'est pas trop forte, ce qui est parfait pour les soirées de la Saint-Valentin héhé! Le personnel est accueillant et prend le temps de discuter avec tout le monde, en espagnol ou en français. Une entrée, deux plats et un dessert. Un véritable voyage culinaire, tout était délicieux. Ah, et le plat sauce mole était excellent, j'avais des préjugés négatifs à cause d'une expérience passée où cela ressemblait à du chocolat bon marché sur du poulet et du fromage fondu avec du riz. Nous sommes vraiment dans un menu gastronomique, je le recommande vivement.

We got takeout last week and it was incredible. My husband has Mexican roots and we used to live in California which has a lot of great regional Mexican food--something we've sorely missed here in France. The food at Mexcal is excellent by any standard. It reminds me of something you might find at a hip, but not precious, restaurant in Oaxaca. High quality ingredients, prepared with such care. I can't wait to eat there again and again. Also, for takeout, they offer returnable glass containers (boîte en verre consignée) which is fantastic. They also sell great tortillas and some prepared foods at the St. Aubin market on Sundays.

The best Mexican in Toulouse in my opinion I am married to a Mexican), located in the festive, multicultural neighborhood of Arnaud Bernard. They serve real non tex-mex) Mexican food, fresh, creative, usually made with organic local products. Excellent Mezcal selection. The lunch deal is a blast. Their cocktails rock too! There is a nice little patio at the back of the restaurant. Highly recommended!
