I am always amazed by the regularity with which you find a great restaurant in an unprepossessing and out of the way location in Italy. To arrive at Serafino you drive down a number of narrow country lanes before arriving at the restaurant. The building itself looks rustic from the outside but inside is clean and elegantly laid out. With two colleagues we started with an egg with cheese and pig cheek (this does not do the dish justice as it was refined and beautifully cooked) a perfect starter, we then had the beef cheek with polenta and some vegetables. The beef cheek (clearly cooked for hours) was butter soft and a very hearty meal. All the food was accompanied by a local red from the local area. We finished with coffee and grappa at the bar which was the perfect end to the evening. If you are in the area Serafino is worth a visit for both the food and also the outstanding hospitality.
Had a fantastic antipasto with salami, ham and cheese. Followed by a very good risotto with zucchini and dried ham togheter with nice local red wine. Dont miss the tiramisu its really made with love. The Family/owners were around and we had good service and chat with the son in the house.
