Mamakas Taverna - Toronto

Today's experience at Mamakas was a mix of emotions. I had been eagerly anticipating dining here since moving to Toronto. The food, including the saganaki and lamb chops, was absolutely delicious. However, the service, or lack thereof, was extremely disappointing. As Asian Canadian patrons, the lack of hospitality shown to us was disheartening. Our server, Y, was unprofessional and barely communicated with us. It was clear that they did not want to be serving us, which was evident in their attitude and lack of enthusiasm. When we asked about the size of the "handmade pitas," they gave a dismissive response. Aside from taking our orders and delivering the food, we received minimal service. This was a letdown considering how amazing the food was. In fact, the service was so poor that I left zero tip for the first time in my life. I hope the management reads this review and takes steps to improve the customer service at Mamakas. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I find this level of service unacceptable. I would still recommend this place for its food, but I truly hope that the service improves for future patrons.

I dine in here before Covid 19 hit the country. The overall experience was stunning; the food, service, and wine. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. Her food and wine recommendation was on-point. Although the restaurant was pretty busy and crowded, we were well looked after.

Everything is delicious The only thing to me it’s quite noise, the music in the background it’s too loud... besides that everything it’s great !!

Service was excellent best we have had in some time. Food was delicious we ordered a number of dishes and shared them amongst four of us. They did a good job of advising on appropriate portions just enough for everyone. Dips were a bit over priced however only negative but it was outweighed but all the other positives.

I have been twice now, once with my boyfriend and once with my family. Both times were amazing. The food is delicious and you feel like you’re in a little restaurant right in Greece. The wine is Greek as well so we got to try some that we wouldn’t be able to anywhere else necessarily. Definitely give it a try!
