Bidra med feedbackService was a little slow as I walked in around 930. Only one server but lota of customers waiting to be seated to order their first coffee. Some customers didn't want to wait and left... But it's a French cafe... Patience is the virtue!Food(omelette) and French press coffee came, both were decent but didn't give the wow factor. The place is outside of the busy streets, so it was quaint and relaxing.
As you enter the sitting room of Café Le Neuf, you perceive scattered small round tables with French period postcards under their glass surfaces, chrome-polished napkin holders, pairs of carved wooden chairs with old-fashioned but very comfortable upholstery. The patrons have delicious looking plates of classic French bistro fare in front of them: crêpes, croque-monsieurs, quiches and galettes. All in all a pretty place, you think. Until you turn to the counter to face the staff. The two French waiters, guy and girl, without even a hint of a smile on their faces, instead with that familiar condescension that contrasts so sharply with their country's rapidly declining place in the world, immediately make you regret that you ever entered this cafe. Probably they expect you to apologize or to thank them for allowing you into their temple of cultural superiority.Nevertheless, you’re already here, so you sit down and order a crêpe. Which turns out to be rather delicious, and so is the espresso. You enjoy the food and drink, you ask for the bill – and, as if you were a dim-witted idiot, it is explained to you that “bien sûr” you can’t pay at the table, you have to pay at the counter. You pay, and there – did your eyes deceive you? That looked just like a smile. Almost enough to lift your review up to a fourth point. Almost, but not quite.
I recently went to Le Neuf and was blown away. The service was amazing and the food was filling and delicious! The atmosphere was friendly and fun! I definitely recommend Le Neuf if you want to eat at a French breakfast place in Toronto!!
If you're looking for a discreet little corner but a few steps away from everything, here's for you. Cute and comfortable coffee with terrace under the shade of large trees, this coffee is a small well-kept secret.
This is one of the best terraces in Toronto, I don't call it a patio because when I think of patios I think of drinks and crowds and noise. This is a quiet little shaded terrace with only a 10 tables or so, the food is great we came for brunch (again). The service was better than last time, so still not good but better. It's pretty standard Toronto brunch prices, so not overly cheap, but one thing that irked me was that I ordered the french toast (very good by the way), but as I watched french toast after french toast being served, each one came with a large dollop of whipped cream and a cup of syrup which mine did not. This bothered me not because I had to have those things, it was good on its own, but why did everyone else's have that? Not consistent service which to me looks very bad and it bothered me, my impression until then had improved but is now the same as before.
