Tasty House - Torbay

Lovely Chinese food freshly cooked in this restaurant. Bit of a back street establishment but don't be put off by that. Very friendly staff and food was really nice and good value. Recommended.

On holiday, we got off the bus at the wrong stop and found Tasty House in an area of takeaway foods. (Indeed, most of their trade is takeaway with a busy delivery service, which is an indication of how good the food is). It's probably an ex shop but the simply styled restaurant has around ten tables. The service was good, polite and not pretentious. We ordered King Prawn with Rice and the Special (House) Curry. The prawns were large and plentiful, the curry was flavourful, not too hot, with prawns and meats. We each had separate bowls of rice. We enjoyed our meals and were particularly impressed by the texture of the rice, which is often overlooked elsewhere. The quality of the food belies its location, so don't be fooled, it's very good.

We all loved the food here. Super delicious and reasonably priced. We had the pineapple chicken, sweet and sour chicken, BBQ pork ribs and the lemon chicken all great.

Had a lovely takeaway which exceeded our expectations. Had a special fried rice and beef in black bean and was blown away by the quality and amount of the ingredients such as prawns. Not often you find a Chinese that is even better than the one you use locally as we are on holiday, but was very pleased with this choice.

We moved to Torquay from Hong Kong and this is our go-to place for an excellent Chinese meal out. The food is exceptional. The portion sizes are generous, the food is fresh and authentic. We can't fault it. I can't comment on the drinks as we eat-in with a jug of water. But, it's really really good food. If you eat in, it's always quiet as most of their orders are delivered. Don't let this put you off, it's always nice eating in a quiet place.
