Bidra med feedbackI would have given it 5 stars, but tripadvisor doesn't let me! incredibly welcoming, quirky authentic family Italian. salat was huge and the pizza delicious. four-legged friends have made special welcome!
Lovely food cooked on a wood fire pizza truly excellent. The starter callamare is superb. Highly recommended.
We popped into Thuir, with friends, after a lovely day that included walking up to Saint Martin Du Canigou, to see the Abbey, followed by a relaxing thermal bathe at Saint Thomas Le Bains. As its Christmas time, the street decor lighting in Thuir...were superb. Although we holiday in the area many times per year for 20+ years, we'd not been to eat in Thuir for a fair few years. One of our friends is a simple eater and doesn't really do French food so a pizza was ideal. We drove past the door, parked up, went in a little early , 6.30pm, complete with the dog were greeted by the friendly owner. The dog was immediately given a water bowl a taste of the ham. Sorted. She settled down. We just wanted pizza. A few unusual requests from our friends, ie no tomato base, or creme fresh !! Anyway, pizzas all SUPERB !!! Lovely chilled rose' 5 well satisfied customers. Concluded a lovely day out. Will return !!!
We stayed in the area last year and happened across this lovely little pizzeria, had a superb meal and left with memories of good service. This year, we were on holiday in the Pyrenees Orientale again although not in this neighbourhood. We made the one...hour journey from our village to Thuir purely to visit this restaurant again and it was very much worth the drive. We had pizzas which were very reasonably priced and made with very fresh ingredients. They were absolutely delicious! The lovely lady who served us spoke English very well and was very friendly and helpful. There were other delights on the menu besides pizzas, including pastas, fish and steaks, all sounded delicious. We couldn't understand why this little gem of a place was so empty on a Saturday evening? If we find ourselves back in the vicinity for our next holiday we will definitely return to La Mensa no matter what the drive.
We stopped for lunch, looking for a simple, unpretentious place that might be OK. We struck gold. The pizzas are excellent we had 2 different types. The service is 1st class and the iles flottant are wonderful. Michelin stars be damned this is a...great little place, highly recommended.
