Bidra med feedbackIs it a fish and chips shop or a Chinese restaurant? Well, it’s both! We visited on a Saturday evening and were unfamiliar with the place before walking in. Initially, we thought we would order fish and chips, but ultimately decided to try their Chinese cuisine instead. We kicked off our meal with a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup ($4.25). The broth was hearty, featuring several pieces of chicken and a plump shrimp. It struck a nice balance between being slightly spicy and a bit tangy. For our main courses, we ordered three dishes, but the portions were quite generous, and the prices were reasonable. Two dishes would have been more than enough for the two of us. First, we had the Beef Lo Mein ($10.50), which featured tender beef, a generous amount of noodles, and a mix of carrots, green peppers, and onions that enhanced the flavor. Next, we tried the Chicken with Snow Peas ($9.75). This dish was simple, highlighting just the chicken and snow peas, which remained crisp and fresh. Finally, we enjoyed the Beef with Broccoli ($8.95). Like the previous dishes, it focused on the two main ingredients, perfectly cooked to our liking. The service throughout the meal was pleasant and polite, making our dining experience enjoyable.
I haven't sampled the food at this restaurant, but I did walk by and was greeted by a delightful aroma. On my way there, I noticed a variety of tree species lining the street, including several large Norway maples (which are invasive), sugar maples, red oaks, pin oaks, and impressively healthy green ash trees—especially surprising given the threat posed by the invasive emerald ash borer that is decimating their numbers. The trees were all quite substantial in size, which isn't surprising given the age of the street I was walking on.
This restaurant is the ultimate spot for fish and chips. The fish is incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection. The prices are excellent, and the staff is exceptionally friendly.
Truly Perfect Fish Chips. We went to Nellie 's for lunch this week and are utterly delighted with their amazing fish and chips. The fish batter is super crispy and in the perfect proportion to the generous pieces of fish. It takes real skill to get batter just right very few restaurants can do it ... but these folks have it down perfectly! Don 't judge by the 'plaza restaurant ' exterior because inside is nicely appointed and service is genuinely warm and friendly as well as prompt. Prices are very reasonable. We will enjoy having dinners there often! PS Since they are absolute experts at proper deep frying, I would love to see them make a blooming onion appetizer too (because I know they would do it right)... Hmmm, must suggest this to them!
