Bidra med feedbackOur plans for a pleasant morning watching our children in the May Day parade were spoiled by the rude owner (I assume) of the cafe. Despite having purchased drinks from another vendor, we decided to sit at the cafe tables with our two small babies who needed feeding. In an effort not to be impolite, we went inside and bought cake from the cafe to use the table instead of sitting on the ground with the babies. As we sat watching the parade, we were abruptly approached and rudely informed that it was not acceptable and impolite to have bought drinks elsewhere and consume them in front of her cafe. Even though we had bought something from them, it was apparently not enough. Meanwhile, other patrons at different tables did not even bother purchasing anything but still occupied space. I will not be returning to this establishment.
My family and I visit this restaurant frequently to take a break from working at home. They serve excellent coffee and offer a diverse menu of meals and snacks. The homemade cakes and scones are particularly tasty. The service is consistently friendly and efficient. A nice touch is that they include a lotus biscuit with every hot drink. The frappes here are the best in town. The restaurant is always bustling with locals, which is a testament to its quality. They use local produce and support small businesses, which is something we always appreciate.
The prices at Newton Abbot Market cafe for a weak milkshake and a strong coffee were surprisingly high, almost causing me to stumble in disbelief. The quality of the food and drinks were not worth the expense, so I will not be returning. I recommend choosing the Carlton Cafe instead.
I was there with three friends having lunch on Saturday 29th February 2020. I had a baked potato with goats cheese and cranvberry sauce with salad for lunch.
Margaret's home made shortbread are so light and delicious I would recommend you try one,my grandson Jake loves his visit for his healthy banana milkshake.
