Yamato Steakhouse - Taunton

The food was just okay. When ordering sea scallops, one would expect a plate full of full-sized scallops, not just one or two sliced into thin slivers and burnt on the grill, especially considering the market price. The drinks were good, but the excessive amount of ice in such small glasses made it feel like we were drinking test tube shots. It is not acceptable to charge for a drink and then provide the customer with very little liquid. The restaurant's business model needs to be reconsidered, as the place always seems to be empty, giving off a negative impression. The atmosphere feels dark and uninviting, as if blind people were working there. Brighten up the place and ditch the vampire cave aesthetic. Although it has potential, the restaurant could benefit from some fresh ideas. Additionally, the staff members who simply stand and stare at the customers' tables should be put to work, perhaps by cleaning the dirty windows with a spray bottle.

This is generally our Hibachi and sushi take out spot! They do have in-house dining and a bar but not actual chef-driven hibachi experience. The food is consistently good and sushi fresh.

Great sushi and service. Very fast when ordering takeout and also very cordial. As a regular customer the sushi never disappoints and also a great value for what you get. Great a little gem in Taunton.

I just saw who I'm guessing is the manager or owner, purposely drive his pickup truck through a flock of seagulls, fatally injuring one. Now his dumb ugly kids are playing with it while it's suffering in the parking lot. NOW, they are helping him carry bags of food into the back door. No hands were washed. I think it's dead now. He just came out with a broom and dust pan and threw it in the dumpster. Brought the dust pan and broom back in through the back door.

I have been going to this restaurant for the past 2 years and it has become my local spot. Everything I have eaten here has been consistently good. However, the servers lack personality and their interactions with customers feel very automated. Despite this, I continue to come here because I always find a seat at the bar and enjoy the drinks and food. This restaurant is more suited for takeout and lacks a lively atmosphere. I prefer visiting other spots for a more vibrant experience.
