The Cuban Place - Sydney

On a Friday evening, I visited this restaurant early with two friends. We ordered drinks and some snacks (cassava chips and brioche rolls) and sat in the bar area. After waiting for 30 minutes, our food had not arrived, even though the restaurant was not very busy. We noticed other customers who arrived after us receiving the same order promptly. When we asked our waitress about our food, she was dismissive and did not follow up. We then asked another waiter to check on our order. He assured us that it was on its way, but we were left wondering where it was. Finally, almost an hour and a half after placing our order, our food arrived without any apology.

This place is a pretty big space that would cater for large groups well. They have a $59 set menu which looks good. But there was just two of us and we tried a mixture of the tacos, the beans with rice

Ambience was nice so we booked in. 40 minutes in and our cocktails still haven't arrived, the food is nowhere to be seen.They completely forgot about us. I ordered the Arena Sangrieta and my fiance asked for the Pablo Escobar and it took forever to get to us. In fact, we've been seated for 15 minutes before anyone came to see if we were ready to order.Food quality is OK, mostly hit or miss.Very disappointing.

We came on a quiet Wednesday night to this restaurant and were surprised by how small the menu was. However, we chose some sharing plates and everything was delicious! The staff were very friendly and there is a good, festive atmosphere here. I would definitely return, it looks like it would be a very buzzing venue on a Friday night with live music etc.

We were here for dinner, it was OK. The menu isn't very extensive but there's enough to choose from. We were sat at a split table, awkwardly close to the people at the next table. After 15 mins we went to the bar to get our own drinks, there's actually table service but there was no sign of it. The cocktails seem like they are reasonably priced but they are 70% ice and not so great at all. We enjoyed the food, the lamb was fabulous and the sauce on the corn was so good. It was a mixed bunch on our visit. I think it would be better in a bigger group.
