Bidra med feedbackThe Bavarian seems to have gone down hill from its early daysThe food is frankly rather average and used to be excellent.
Our friend loves this place so we decided to have dinner with a group of our friends here.
Beer selection is great as long as you don't want a mainstream local drop. If you do then go across the road to CBD. The tap beer selection is flavoursome and varied. Always a great experience taking down a Stein or two! Food wise, the menu seems to have changed recently. Still the signature German dishes but missing some of the late night favourites like burgers etc that they had on the menu in months gone by. Overall good atmosphere and definitely not the worst bar to sit in on your own!
Bavarian Bier Cafe - name suggest German Bier and food with great service - the only thing keeping this place going is the fantastic effort of the staff - Mel, Charlotte, Chris, Gordon, Candy and Ric are the names I think I heard. There is more local Sydney craft beer than German beer and the menu has been cut so that burgers and other good food are removed from the menu at night - presumably this is too encourage visitors to buy more expensive items - do you remove the burgers from the venue at night and bring them back for tomorrow's lunch???? Rockpool are destroying this place. I don't think they would replace a bento box with a fish and chips at Sake so why they do this with the Bavarian brand is beyond me... Rockpool Group / Urban Purveyors - if you want a craft beer pub full of people wanting 5$ toilet water then well done - if you want a brand that lives up to its name then you best employ some people in head office who understand branding, customers and reputation. All the regulars (I bring almost 50 guests a month to your venues) think you are letting us down... SORT YOURSELVES OUT - 5 stars for staff - 0 stars for everything else
Modern "German" restaurant and bar in the middle of Sydney CBD. The restaurant features a large bar area with stools; the large German beer glasses are "hanging" from the ceiling. The dining area is large with many tables and lounge chairs. The food is great, especially the chicken wings. We were there last time during a once-a-year promotion of 10 cents chicken wings. Large variety of German beers (from blond to dark) poured in different size glasses (e.g., 300ml, 500ml, and even 1L). Make sure you book a table!
