Bidra med feedbackOne of the best restaurants on Long Island. Food was stellar and very well executed, service was amazing considering the size of the operation. Management team is engaged, warm and ever present. Highly recommend!!! So many experience to enjoy in different dining areas. Make sure to visit on a few occasion, even off season on a slow night midweek!!
Hello my wife, toddler, and I dined in at your establishment on Thursday night. Knowing that we had a toddler, we arrived a half hour early because we did not want to disturb the other diners. We were able to sit down at 6:05pm with a 6:30 reservation. Upon sit down we were greeted by our server Elton who could not be more helpful. Noticing our toddler was being a toddler at a nice restaurant we were able to take turns eating while we brought our son outside to try and calm him down. Now about the food. We frequented some other restaurants recently one being Jean Georges in topping rose of Bridge Hampton which the food was very good, however the food at The Halyard was on another level. The drink I had was phenomenal, “down the rabbit hole” it was called , extremely creative with the toasted coconut and refreshing. We essentially ordered very similar dishes. The tuna tartare was presented beautifully and just as delicious, the chili paste was not too overpowering still allowing the taste of the tuna to come thru, and the waffle cone it was presented on offered a hint of sweetness balancing it out perfectly. My wife’s summer cavatelli pasta was al dente obviously homemade, perfect balance in the pesto and the burata added another level of creaminess. I had the wagyu steak, perfectly cooked medium rare. The cut of the New York strip was perfect every bite being identical. I have included pictures. Thank you to Elton for your patience and understanding we were in and out in 45 minutes. Thanks to his help and the help of the staff.
We were waiting a while for this reservation, over a month. Did it deliver? Sorta yes. The food is top notch though not the best I have ever had. The menu is very limited. I think that hurts the restaurant. They need about ten more items to choose from overall added, IMO. Maybe another fresh fish option and another steak option as well as a few different salads. The service was great but they did forget something, minus the star. They ended up bringing it out late after we reminded them but no break on the price for it, just an apology and we ate the side towards the end of the meal. The dessert was to die for though. A simple Lavender Honey gelato was cool and perfect. My chicken dish was delicious with au jus on it. Perfect size. The Cod was small but good. The fingerling potatoes were.late but they were very good. Drinks were one of the best we have had. Overall, it is worth the views and experience. Just a few tweaks needed. We will be back. Tell 'em Barsnobs sent ya!
The View ! Looks like you might be somewhere tropical! The sunset ! The lobster
The Halyard does some things very well, and some things not well at all. The location, atmosphere, and service are all top-notch and are worth the trip on their own. The best view in Greenport! The cocktails and wine list are robust as well. The food, however, is adequate and largely uninspired. I appreciate the frequent/seasonal changes to the menu, but with only 3-4 entree options, the room for error is slim! The moules frites were quite good, but consistent with any pub’s offering. The lobster bucatini was, again, tasty, but a sauce and pasta one could easily make at home plus half a lobster thrown on top and a $46 price tag. The appetizers were a mixed bag as well and need some fine tuning- the tuna tartare needed more tuna and less sesame waffle cone/guacamole filler. The most maladjusted dish was certainly the green pea hummus, with a very subtle flavor absolutely smothered by pungent tajin. Loved the taro chips though! Go to the Halyard for the drinks, views and cocktails, and here’s hoping the next menu iteration will be more thoughtful.
