Bidra med feedbackLovely pub with great atmosphere and roaring fires. However, I had the beef stew this time last year and it was really good, so I ordered it again yesterday only to be disappointed as it was thin and the beef was fatty I won't be ordering that again !
If you want dry bread, burnt bacon and terrible customer service then your like this pub, when mentioned to the lady who cleared out plates she didn’t went to know rude unfriendly and unpleasant, Never returning what a dark , awful place inside . Unless your a local
My husband and I went to the halfway on our way home as we thought it was a dog friendly pub. We have 2 dogs, one confident and rarely barks, and the other one who is very nervous, but we have been working with her to build her confidence. Our dog had been doing really well at The Pound in Aller and the Prince Alfred at Burrowbridge, so we wanted to widen her experience. We chose the Halfway House at Langport, as we saw on line, it was dog friendly. Sadly as my dog, although I was using training techniques to try to calm her, when a couple came to sit near us, our nervous dog, was more nervous. The couple were lovely and continued to talk to us while we calmed our dog, understanding she was scared. Sadly the bar staff spoke to us, and said, your dog is barking, people are eating. I could not do more than I was to mange the training, so told the bar person, we would finish our drinks and leave. He said, it wasn’t him, it was everyone else. This was not very helpful. The people we were taking to said they often have evenings when they have lots of dogs and they can become barky and hoped they would see us again. We will not be going back again, some pubs are child friendly and you expect some noise from children, I thought a dog friendly pub would understand some noise from dogs, especially those who the owner is trying to help increase their confidence. We understand the establishment can decide who they want in their business. I thought we were going to be in a pub who understood nervous dogs, but this was not the case. We now understand the owners want to allow dogs, not not nervous dogs. This is a lovely pub, but only wants quiet dogs.
Excellent authentic country pub. Matching Dublin for the best pint of Guinness I’ve tasted. Not heard this much laughter in a pub for a long time, great experience.
Excellent home cooked food at reasonable prices, the best pub food in the area! Never had a bad meal.
