Tavern On Main - South Kingstown

A cool place with some great beers on tap.. The food, staff and service were good. Went to a Taco Tuesday.

I want to share our most recent experience that occurred on August 8th, 2022, around 7:00 PM, which prompted us to write this review. We usually prefer to order take-out, but when we called, they refused to take our order over the phone and insisted we come in-person to place it. When we arrived, the waitress refused to take our take-out order and directed us to speak with the bartender. Interestingly, the bartender also refused to take our order (and was quite rude) insisting that we must purchase drinks before she would take our food order. As Muslims who do not drink, we had to ask her to take our order without drinks. After some insistence, she agreed but told us we would have to wait for 25 minutes. We waited outside, only to find out after the allotted time that our order had never been input into the system. She did not apologize or show any remorse, leaving us feeling disrespected. While we eventually received our food (after a total wait of 50 minutes), the poor service, lack of courtesy, and disregard for customers have made us decide to never return. The food may be great, but the staff and their service are certainly not.

I recently visited this restaurant tonight (7/28) and was asked to wait for 30 minutes because we did not have a reservation. However, they ended up calling us within 10 minutes to inform us that a table was available. Our server was very nice and attentive, and he mentioned that it was his first night. Although we do not know his name, he did a fantastic job and checked on us regularly. The only downside was the long wait for our food. We waited nearly an hour for our meals, and by the time it arrived, there were only a few people left in the restaurant. However, the food was delicious, with generous portions and obviously made from scratch. Unfortunately, they had run out of their house-made lemonade. Despite the wait for the food, the quality of the dishes makes it worth it.

We had high hopes for this restaurant. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the draft beer was cold. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. The boneless wings were mostly breading and mushy, the honey mustard crusted chicken breast was all crust with barely any chicken, and the braised short ribs were just okay with poor presentation. The fish and chips lacked flavor and the scotch eggs were difficult to eat. However, the grilled chicken pesto sandwich was delicious and saved the meal. We wish we had ordered more of those. Overall, we enjoyed the restaurant but the food left much to be desired.

We were impressed by the food, the lobster ravioli with shrimp was excellent ???? We were pleased that we were able to sit outside on the pleasant late Summer night. We look forward to going back! Wait staff was phenomenal!
