Bidra med feedbackIf I could apply the lessons I was taught, the fly where it should be.... I might have caught more and bigger trout. I suck!
Killerplatz Most beautiful people you'll ever meet.
I have had the pleasure of traveling all over the world and meeting many wonderful people. I can say without reservation that no where/one compares to the folks at Bar ZX Ranch. We took a three generations fishing trip up there and none of us had ever fly fished before. Rebecca was a phenomenal teacher and worked her tail off to make sure we caught tons of big fish. Dean, Cathy, Rebecca and Sam made us feel like family while we were there and I was actually sad to leave. If you want to make incredible memories with good friends or family I cannot recommend a better place.
This place is unbelievable!!! The entire ranch is breathtaking, the fishing is out of this world. My guide Rebecca was freaking awesome. I cannot wait to continue going back as much as I can!!!! I will be back in the next 2 months for sure!
SPECTACULAR FLY FISHING! 700+ acres, 17+ spieces of trout. Few dozen ponds fed from high mountain springs! We will go back! Bar ZX was a uniquely wonderful, fishing experience. Excellant guides, Dan Becky, brother sister!Good for beginners to learn how to cast/catch, gently release trout, fly casting, flies and everything fly fishing!Good for advanced, because these fish are wary, and where else are you going to see so many species at once. . . Bonneville, Golden, Tiger Trout, et al. OK, for the serious angler, it sounds a bit like Fishin ' in a Petting Zoo, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, with many fish over 28 . When the huge rainbows crush your dry on the surface and leap into the air, you will understand, why you will come back. I vote this the single best experience for serious anglers fishing with never-ever 's, and not getting bored or hindered by the inexperienced. Everyone catches fish . . . Then, the Ranch experience was beautiful. Dan, sr and wife Kathy are just about off the grid, grow own food, . . . and once you get there and feel their relaxed vibe, you won 't want to leave. Wonderful family. Ragged Mountains and Gunnison Mountains are stunning, as is the drive over McClure Pass. MY HIGHLIGHT: as I tired toward the end of an 8 hour day of casting, I handed the guide, Becky, my rod and said, I want to see you catch a fish. She smiled, and her double haul just about released her line down to the backing, . . . as she dropped the fly in the middle of a large pond. WOW, what a cool show-off! We loved it. HINTS: Everything is casting from the bank (no waders), bring your own food water, get directions in advance (no cell service in area), minimize stress on fish (always leave fish in water, reel-in quickly, release gently revive, and minimize photos of fish out of water). Bar ZX is 2 hours from Vail Valley and 1 hour from Glenwood Springs. Eat at Pullman restsurant in Glenwood on the way home. Next time, we will fish area rivers going in, arrive after dinner, and stay at Lodge overnight. That way you get up early to fish Bar ZX, rest at mid-day lunch, and finish fishing late afternoon into sunset. Then, repeat!Note, they have hunting in the fall.
