Sandy Beach Public Use Area - Solon

I really love this place. It can get a bit crowded at times, but considering it’s a beach in Iowa, I can't really complain. Just make sure to plan ahead since there are no restroom facilities. It's also a great spot to visit in the spring if you enjoy birdwatching! And don't forget to bring along some water and sunscreen!

This review pertains to the Public Beach Area, not the campground. The beach is in dire need of some care and attention! It's overrun with weeds, rocks, and cockleburs, making it almost unrecognizable as a beach. I understand that this area experiences flooding, but it's crucial to prioritize its maintenance!

This is a fantastic campground located near the boat ramp and beach. It offers plenty of shade and grassy areas, making it a perfect spot for relaxation.

Big parking lot, 5+ picnic tables, boat ramps. Only bad thing is it floods easily when the water rises.

Check in was easy with polite staff. However another staff was short with her comments on check out for a family member. Facilities are clean but only 2 showers for a large number of campsites is insufficient.
