Give them a try, you won't regret it. we can't wait to come back.
After my wife and I were locked up in our houses during the covid and the cold chicago winter, my wife and I had a chance at a very nice afternoon and took some seats in the covered terrace behind libertad. we were a bit worried when we arrived to see that the sides of the tent were down, but we took our seats near a corner where the flaps were open and enjoyed both the sun and a life-saving crossbärse so that we left our watch a little down and enjoyed the friendliness of our server. I saw the menu back a long time and thought it seemed a little expensive, but the reviews were always good, so we knew we had to try it sometime and brunch always sounds like a good way to try a place. the menu offered a series of interesting drinks options (e.g. beer and wein), so my wife ordered a **** maria and I decided for a drink based on the traditional horchata, which was thrown out of the love to rice milk (with a lot of zimt and other spicy). both were really well done, although my buddy thought that the Maria mix was a bit overspisssed (but I liked it very much.) the horchata was delicious and refreshing well worth a try. there were a series of enticing articles on the brunch menu, so my wife and her cousin (which also came out of winter sleep to connect us) two netzen a omelet with brussel sprouts, paprika, wobble and cheese and a breakfast burrito with eggs, speck, avocado, cheese, etc. I chose the article that I use to separate the men from the young when it was to eat with a Latin curved chilaquiles here served with speck, eier (its style), salsa verde, etc. a short time later our plates were presented and, I must tell them it is a long time since I had so good eating. the chilaquiles were perfect, not to wind, perfectly stuffed, high-quality ingredients and a wonderful mix of aromen. my wife and her cousin were both totally impressed by the food they shared (I picked a couple of kartoffels from the teller of my wife, they were so good) and let us all come back (soon) to try more from the menu. service was fast, friendly and before location and at the end of the day the prices were really suitable for the quality / number of foods we receive. we are now waiting for another beautiful day (the server told us that they would open the terrace area further if the spring was in full blossom, that is chicago and all) but in the meantime I wanted to share only our history with those who have not yet tried this little gem of a restaurant in the inner city of skokie.
This place has great service and food. I had been to Libertad several times when I lived in Skokie a few years back, and chose it as a semi-casual meal with two of my kids. The menu is innovative, with a Latin American foundation, but blending in Mediterranean and Asian influences. We tried the pork belly, the hummus, remolacha and quinoa salads, and all got big thumbs ups from me and the kids (12 and 17). We were very happy with the service. The staff were knowledgeable, and responsive. For instance we needed a few of the dishes to be gluten free, and they were able to make changes to accommodate. We’ll definitely be back for a special occasion.
We each ordered the skillet that has chorizo. It’s a bit small for the price. It was delicious, though. They have really good coffee and well made mimosas. The Cafe Mexicano is a fantastic alcohol/coffee drink. I definitely recommend that.
The staff at this restaurant was wonderful and professional, from the hostess to the bus staff. The food was excellent! I will definitely be returning in the future!
