Ty is truly outstanding, both as a chef and as a restaurant owner. He consistently goes the extra mile for his guests. Everything on his menu—ranging from traditional Hawaiian barbecue to his mother’s pot roast, as well as his gravy fries and chili brisket macaroni and cheese—is absolutely delectable. If you find yourself in Simi Valley, this restaurant is a must-visit. The prices are very reasonable as well; the most expensive dish is about $15 for a generous serving. We ordered a pulled pork bowl to take away, and it was the worst meal I've ever had! The pork was mushy and drenched in ketchup with hardly any BBQ flavor. The vegetables were clearly frozen and not fresh, and there were very few of them. The rice was overcooked and sticky. When I walked into the bar, it was dirty and empty except for a few locals, and I understand why now. I don't usually write negative reviews, but this experience was truly terrible.

Finding this place was a bit challenging at first. Google Maps led us to the center of the parking lot, but we discovered that it’s actually located inside a bar. TJ’s Bar is warm and welcoming, and Paniolo’s food is fantastic! I was completely sober, and it was still incredible— I can only imagine how amazing it would be if I were buzzed or drunk! This is definitely my new favorite hangout spot!
