Bidra med feedbackI 'm guessing from the looks we received from other patrons that we aren 't the typical customers you would see here. Or, it could be that we just aren 't regulars because the staff honestly knew the names and orders of everyone walking in the door! Lol. The server was super friendly. The food was delicious. The cook is holding it down all by herself and doing an amazing job! This is home cooking at its finest. We would definitely come here again, if we 're ever back in this area!
We had a wonderful experience our 1st time being there at this restaurant The food was wonderful and the waitress very kind we will definitely go back
My family wanted breakfast so we found Alcove restaurant in Sydney Ohio . My daughter and I got 2 eggs over medium, 4 slices of crispy bacon and toast. My granddaughter got the same. MY husband got an omelet with ham and sausage and cheddar cheese. He loved it. When we go back for a visit with family we will definitely stopin. The waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable concerning the menu. We didn't get her name.
My brother and I recently stopped into the alcove for lunch. It had been a few years. I was reminded of a place we frequented with our parents as children. The food was absolutely delicious and I left miserable. That is to be taken as a compliment. I don 't usually have a large appetite but I just couldn 't help myself. Many times they will offer an all you can eat special. My face always lights up when I see the sign in the window. We grabbed a corner booth reminiscent of those 50s style diners. First I noticed our waitress was super friendly. I asked about the brand of coffee they served and asked if it had been changed in the last 20 years. As we were finishing, she brought over a bag of coffee and showed me the brand. I am a bit of a coffee connoisseur and by that I don 't mean a $7 cup of Starbucks but a fresh ground cup of brewed strong -hot yet mellow coffee. And yes it was the same coffee I had 20 years earlier when my dad was still around and we occasionally had breakfast there. Folks, this is another one of those home cooked meals you can have away from home. You are subject to run into anyone at the Alcove. A lot of folks who work downtown frequent this place. You can sit at the bar, in a booth, or in the dining room. I worked downtown for a number of years until the dreaded p-demic. I 'm so glad that the Alcove survived that mess. After all this time, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked into that same warm friendly atmosphere. It gave me a feeling of stepping back in a time machine into one of those restaurants from the 60s -70s given the decor and the range of clients. You will find awesome food, people smiling, chatting, laughing. It 's a regular melting pot as you will find contractors, lawyers, clerks, bankers, retirees and people from all walks of life agreeing on one thing. This place is incredible. The coffee is hot and consistent. I Heard lots of first names tossed around not trying to dip in on conversations but the chatter lent itself to a unique atmosphere and is reminiscent of a friendlier time when people took the time to eat lunch and digest, refuel and have a midday break before returning to work. The alcove has served downtown Sidney a good number of years. It 's been there for as long as I can remember and I am nearly 60. It 's early enough this Saturday that I 'm thinking about breakfast right now. I 'll see you there. You can buy, I 'll leave a nice, well deserved tip,!
Was a very busy Saturday for a holiday weekend we were welcomed and served quicker than i thought we would considering the crowd! Jeni did amazing as our waitress! Thanks for the great breakfast!
