Nic's Gourmet Desserts - Sico I

This restaurant has already closed and moved to UP. Their cakes are excellent, especially their sans rival. Their baked goods, including brownies, breads, and cookies, are also delicious.

I recently visited a restaurant in Uptown Center in Katipunan that is not yet listed, so I will review the one I visited. It is a very small establishment, with seating for only about 20 people inside and another 10 in the hallway of the mall. The coffee was good, but the moist lava cake was not enjoyable. I appreciated the all-white furniture and cozy surroundings. The service was okay.

While the restaurant we visited was not located in San Juan, but rather in the Uptown Center in Quezon City, the quality of the food should not have varied too much. The dishes were nicely presented and tasty, but the portion sizes were too small. Even the weight-conscious lady and teenager with me were still hungry after their meal. Surprisingly, there was only one choice of pasta available besides spaghetti. So, while the Italian cuisine was good, it was not filling enough.

In a most unlikely (obscure) location in San Juan City, MM, one can get good desserts and food in this small bake shop/cafe. Nic's is located on the right side of a busy side street (A. Mabini) of San Juan City. If you live near the area, you can have delicious and filling breakfast because it opens at 7:00 am or have a snack if you are traveling through the city. They also serve very satisfying meals like pasta and other main courses. You can also supply your pantry with wonderful snacks like Parmesan wheat crisp for a tasty midnight snack or just something to go wine your wine. They also have frozen pre-cooked dishes that you can just heat at home for those days when you don't want to cook your own food. It is indeed a convenient go-to place for any body who wants to eat a tasty meal or snack and it has something for everybody including people with a sweet tooth. The cakes and other desserts like dessert bars are good after a snack or with your coffee ( they serve good coffee too). Over-all, it is very difficult to be disappointed when you buy or dine at Nic's, the good food and excellent service just makes you want to keep coming back to it.
