Bidra med feedbackMy partner and I stayed in one of the glamping huts, Thur to sat. When we arrived there was no one at all on site, we walked around all the downstairs even poking our heads into the kitchen to find no one untill we walked into the back yard and found a gardener who tracked down a member of staff to book us in who rudely announced that she didn 't know what to do but would try and book us in. We were given a key and vague directions to the hut.The place was in a pretty location and view from the hut was gorgeous. That 's the only positives I can come up with. The hut was miles away from any facilities, not even a portaloo was up on the slope with the huts. It 's a long, steep dark walk back to the main building if you need the loo in the night. Even the most basic of campsites I 've stayed on have a portaloo close to where you sleep. The loos and shower are in the main building, so you have to walk past and share with people popping into the restaurant whilst you 're trying to brush your teeth and dry off. Not sure who was most shocked. Facilities weren 't the cleanest but there were shower gels and sanitary wear which was a nice touch. The hut was pretty tired and full of flies. I presume the bedding was clean though there was a grubby, pillow left on the floor with no case in it. The windows didn 't open which made it in unbearably warm. We had a kettle in there. However there was no access to drinking water so what we were meant to do with the kettle I have no idea. It was also still full of stale water so the unit hadn 't been checked properly. Having said that, fair play to whoever was in there previously for finding water. Hot tub was a nice idea but the lack of decking or privacy cover meant there was gravel and dirt in the bottom and we may as well have sat in the middle of the carpark as it was just out in the open. We had an afternoon tea booked which they kindly agreed to box up for us so that we could take it out with us. Lovely idea, but the sandwiches has so much butter on them that they were inedible, the scones were stale, the fruit cake was ok, just standard shop bought cake but at least it was fresh.that was all that came with it. It may have been different if we had stayed on site for it, I have no idea. There was clearly a wedding booked for Saturday and on Friday people started to arrive (staying in the main building) however they were up scoping out the wedding area up by the huts Friday evening, rearranging things, shouting to eachother and peering in the huts whilst those of us who had paid for a couple if days peace were literally sat there having to put up with the noise. I appreciate they wanted to have a look but it was clear nothing was going to be set up until Saturday morning after we 'd left so it seemed unfair that they weren 't escorted up and that they were allowed to disturb everyone else already staying there. We left Saturday morning, I have no idea if there was breakfast available as no one mentioned it and in any case we saw no one all the time we were there to ask. In any case we both woke up with stomach cramps on Saturday morning and we were both very very ill for the remainder of the weekend. I have no way of proving it was anything we picked up there but it seems massive coincidence that the afternoon tea wasn 't refrigerated when we picked it up and that the whole place just didn 't seem very clean at all. On the surface it looks quaint and rustic with all the vintage bits and bobs around but it all needs stripping out and cleaning thoroughly and dusting. Looks great but would absolutely not stay here again. And before anyone questions why we didn 't bring anything up at the end of our stay instead of on here...yet again there was no staff around on checkout, we just had to leave the hut key on the desk. No welcome, no ,thanks for staying . No thanks.
We have stayed here many times and use it as our go-to place to get away from the day-to-day life and just slow down and relax. The views from the glamping pods are amazing, food is really good value and tasty! The staff are also super friendly and helpful! We will definitely be back again.... and again!
We stayed here for one night after my partner purchased it on a Wowcher deal. Unfortunately, it is not somewhere that we would recommend to visit. We stayed in the Glamping hut which is literally just a shed with a bed inside. It could definitely do with some TLC, it was very dated and weathered. The huts are also situated quite far away from the toilets which are in the main building, this required a walk up and down a steep track in the dark during the night. These facilities were the only ones on site so you could be brushing your teeth in the morning next to someone washing their hands from the restaurant! We spent some time in the lounge/bar in the evening which was nice and staff were friendly. It was ‘pizza night’ which was certainly the best part of the stay, the pizza was lovely and chips were very good. However, if you didn’t like pizza you are very restricted! The deal included a continental breakfast which can only be described as very poor. There was croissants, toast and jam only. No butter and no staff to ask for any. There was a kettle with tea/coffee but no milk. It’s such a shame as this could be a great venue and has so much potential!
Lovely visit to this little place ,with our daughter, brought of Wowcher. We loved our little bed in a shed and the views were amazing .we had a half hour slot for the hot tub,in the morning we woke to feed the alpacas lovely experience . I recommend it would be nice to have a little fire pit up the top for the evening with some marshmallows it would of been nice to sit out and talk to others in the eve ,overall lovely little place for the night
The experience overall was good. It is a small hotel in the middle of Shropshire hills which also has glamping pods. We stayed in the hotel- this is quite old fashioned and quirky. Don’t expect the Hilton (not going to get that in the middle of Shropshire hills). The rooms could do with a refurb, however the bed was comfy and fine for a 1 night stay. The glamping pods looked lovely and for people saying these are sheds with a bed (yes they are), however this is what you expect when glamping. The location of the pods is lovely, and yes there is a short walk to the toilets, however this is what you expect when glamping. I would prefer to stay in glamping pods to the hotel room if I was to stay again. The owner was very helpful and friendly. There was a bbq on in the evening which was lovely. Paid extra each for this. Something I thought they needed to change was the breakfast time- 10am. When you are an early riser and there is no where nearby to get breakfast or any shops walking distance, 10am is very late for breakfast. The breakfast included consisted of bread, croissants and a few pancakes. There was a toaster and kettle provided and you just help yourself. They could have done with providing some more pastries and re stocked the margarine and plates more regularly as these ran out and people were waiting. Overall the breakfast was nice. You could also pay extra for a cooked breakfast if you wished. You get 30 minutes in evening and the same in the morning for the hot tub. This was fine and a nice amount of time. If the hotel rooms had a little spruce up this would make the stay much nicer. The stay was overall lovely and a nice chilled break.
