Bidra med feedbackWe had a reservation for lunch, but upon arrival, the staff seemed confused and motioned for us to sit in the bar area in the foyer (even though the restaurant appeared empty and closed). We were left feeling cold and ignored by the waitress. When I asked for parmesan, she seemed puzzled, as if it should have been offered automatically. The tuna dish my wife ordered was dry and overcooked, while the salad was simple, with just tomatoes, lettuce, and too many olives. It felt like something you could easily make at home. Our friend's shrimp salad didn't arrive until she was almost finished with her meal, and our side of fries came 20 minutes before the main dishes, making them cold by the time we got them. Overall, it was a disappointing and embarrassing experience, especially since we had brought guests to treat them to a meal.
We dined at The Yard while staying at the hotel in April. The Yard used to be a popular spot for fine dining in Sheffield, but they have since changed their menu. Unfortunately, they now serve what can only be described as overpriced pub food. My fish and chips were burnt on one end and soggy on the other, with gray and muddy fish (I expected white, flaky cod for the price of £16). My partner's steak was completely overcooked (the waitress did not ask how he wanted it cooked, he had to specify). Both dishes came with overly styled chips and lacked flavor. It's a shame to see such a decline in quality, as The Yard used to be a great dining destination.
After our spa visit, we were in search of a quick meal before heading home. We seated ourselves and found the staff to be very friendly and approachable. The menu was simple and easy to navigate. The Yorkshire Pie was absolutely delicious, I would highly recommend it. We will definitely be returning, as we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
As it became dark and began to rain and the candles were illuminated at the tables, the yard must have looked very inviting from the outside. unfortunately the foyer side layer is cool. in the Mercure hotel, it benefits from the quality of customer service. even though there was some confusion sometimes. eating was good, menu limited and like the drinks it is hotel prices for eating.
Staying at the Hotel decided to eat there. Just booked it expecting the quality of the food to match the standard of the hotel (which was fab However, the menu I would describe as pub food I honestly thought it would be a la...Carte or of that standard. Shame really as the staff (esp the manager was fantastic). The food was average and whilst it didnt spoil our stay it certainly contributed nothing.
