Bidra med feedbackWe wandered in to the Arenal Market on the off chance there might be some lunch choices. No research done on the place so had no expectations. There were a few street food type venues around the fringes, as you would expect but deeper in, we found El Pesquero! Table clothes and linen napkins, attentive service, delicious food and not overly priced for the quality, although I can understand some for comparing it to other market venues and finding it expensive. We chose the Salmorejo to start, then melt-in-the-mouth Iberian beef stew (yes they have non-fish options) and the Santona anchovies, which we’re so delicately flavoured. It was a quick bite and we would have enjoyed spending longer to sample some other options. Next time maybe . . .
Chanced on this restaurant by accident whilst browsing the market the previous day. Arrived towards the end of service but staff were happy to accommodate us. Lovely white table clothes covered garden type tables. Complimentary bread and sardine pate was a great start. Seafood paella followed our mixed salad starter which was generous for two and had tuna, asparagus etc. All diners were Spanish and there was a great seasonal atmosphere and banter with waiters. Great end to 2018.
The rice was the worst I had in my life. Also the bill was overpriced. There was a mistake in the bill with two extra bottles of wine. But they didn't care and don't fix it.
Muchas gracias Antonio.
