Bidra med feedbackGreat value and breakfast. good, but not gregarious service. do not tee the best, but otherwise no complain and regularly wipe the tables was good to see. not one for music played during eating, but that was music from my time so good and...will be defo back. would like to try their curry, but 10 am, the English breakfast, no probs.
We have not laid out any other ground here than getting a cuppa, getting a snack and using the toilet. the place was empty bar of the man and the woman owners. we were ignored when we entered. I could feel the feeling of not being wanted, and it became obvious how I was treated from the beginning. both owners had faces like a bulldog chew on a wespe. I asked the aggressive women if they disappointed coffee; my first mistake, no! look at the menu that I decided from the atmosphere that if my friend came back from the toilet, we should go. I was accused of having a blow for my friend with the toilet before she even returned. that went into the charitable box and I wouldn't mind paying for it, but it was the bad way it was required that I got myself. If they were member of the LGBT community, I would avoid this place. I can't be sure, but I didn't give a reason to be treated like that and can only suspect that they don't like my type. when they go in here, they should wipe their feet off before they go.
Although I am not local, I have visited hughsies at many places and had always great eating; typical English kitchen. the cassoles appearing occasionally on the special board are especially warming on a cold day at the sea. I have read various other 1 star reviews... about the miserable rude staff. during my many visits I can honestly say that I have never been treated with anything other than friendliness courtesy. I do not say that the other reviewers are wrong, only that everyone allows the occasional off-day.
Really enjoyed our meal in hughies, went to lunch with an old friend for a catch up and had amazing eating (we recommend the breakfast and the sampi with good, fast service. customers are asked to wear their masks before they enter the caffe that we really appreciated, and kovid rules are adhered to in this caffe! while we eat, there was an older man who had fallen outside waiting for a sick car, and the blonde lady who served behind the counter went out and gave the family chairs to sit on while they waited and asked them if they needed something! it's nice to see, there are some decent people out there! we will return, thanks for a good lunch!
There are about 50 stuck up signs all over the board window about offers apologies for missing the one regarding no drink orders food only at busy times…. It was just after 12 noon with empty tables inside. 4 of us sat down...(we was visiting, not locals) 2 OAP and me pregnant with my partner. Was telling the blonde lady our drinks order and she snapped oooo you can’t just have drinks.. why? We questioned, she snapped getting louder “Because we’re busy and I want to make money!” We looked round as there was only one guy at one table and 2 ladies at another and us…. We questioned it jokingly and said you’re not very busy and you have no one waiting outside…. She stormed off, threw her mask on the side and threw her notepad and pen too, then hid behind the kitchen wall. So we got up and left. What a lovely way to treat your customers. If you was food only make it clear when we walk in and maybe offer to have the drinks as takeaway if your so busy?!…. At least from other reviews I can see it wasn’t just us you have been rude to!
