Bidra med feedbackNam Thai seemed to be popular, located within the Engadin Bad Scuol complex, and with a nice interior. The menu covers a lot of Thai classics and we chose the starter platter for two, a chicken dish and a beef dish. The starter platter was generous, with satay, a coconut chicken curry, spring rolls and other things. However the coconut chicken curry was watery and lacking flavor, the satays were dried out and generally lacking punch, the deep fried food seemed like it had been refried or reheated. The same went for the following main dishes. Thai should be fragrant, spicy and fresh, but the two dishes looked tasted quite similar despite them being nominally quite different curry's, and were really lacking the fresh punch we look for in Thai food. It's unfortunately a story that plays out across Europe where it seems very hard to get a genuine Thai food experience. It's not just the heat that was lacking, but that real fragrance from lots of fresh herbs like lemongrass and coriander. The staff could also be slightly more attentive. I will say that some of the other customers seemed to genuinely enjoy it, and it was pretty full on a Sunday evening in September, so your mileage may vary! During Covid times, the tables did seem sparse enough and we didn't feel crowded or unsafe in any way.
Weather great so could sit outside. Of course great view. Food very good. Head server was only server so rather overwhelmed with work load. Nice option to restaurants in village
We were guests at Nam Thai on February 14, 2024. After an uncomplicated reservation by phone, we were warmly welcomed and pointed out the kitchen's flexibility for special requests. Our starters and main courses (minced meat rolls with basil and coriander in rice paper, then Pad Thai with shrimp or veggie) were served quickly and tasted delicious. Because of Valentine's Day, we were each given a red rose after dinner a thoughtful and beautiful gesture, thank you very much! Conclusion: Good location, nice ambience, top service (Nico), very tasty food. Upper price segment, but consistent with the quality. We would like to come again!
