Bidra med feedbackI went to 12 Barbecues for a late lunch today. The golf course was closed for the season, so it was quiet with only a few other tables. I was seated promptly by the server and given a menu right away. She suggested the pizza, so I decided to order a pepperoni and mushroom pizza along with a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was delicious and the pizza was pretty good too! However, the pizza sauce was a bit thin and the crust was a bit soggy. Despite this, I still managed to eat half of it and took the rest home for later. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. It would be great to come back and enjoy some golf during the summer, especially during Happy Hour with their enticing specials!
Despite what the Greenbrye Golf Club website may claim, this is definitely not a high-end restaurant by any stretch of the imagination. Despite the inconvenience of getting there, we decided to give it a try anyway. We visited on a Sunday and found the restaurant to be quite busy. We were seated on the terrace with a view of a well. The waitstaff seemed eager but service was slow. The menu could best be described as typical pub fare. The fish and chips were average at best, and the chicken dish did not impress. The chips, however, were surprisingly good. The wine selection was limited, and dessert options were minimal. Overall, this is not the place to go if you want to impress someone. The food is mediocre and we will not be returning.
I went there with a group of friends. We shared appetizers and had drinks. We were surprised at how small the appetizers were. For example, if you order the spanikopita, you get only 2! So if you are with a group, you need to order...several of each so it can get very expensive. The stuffed mushrooms were just okay. The scallops were a decent size and quite tasty. Shrimp was good but there again, only got 4 or 5. I would recommend getting the dry ribs or chicken wings which were not on the menu but had decent sized portions. The caesars were very good and the atmosphere is nice. Outdoor patio has a view of a pond with a fountain. The road from Highway 16 is impassable, likely to all the house construction at the golf course. Nice and quiet, off the beaten path, good place to visit with friends.
Went for lunch. Two other people there. Server was kind but not knowledgeable. Every time we had a question about the menu she had to run back to the kitchen. No wine by the litre. They were out of requested wine. Menu expensive. Got a...plate of lettuce and a few walnuts for $15.00. They are out of their league.
I should have written my review while the evening was fresher in my mind, but I will pass along what I can. We were four adults and one child. Attention to service in this small venue was excellent. Everyone was happy with all aspects of...their meal, including an unnamed diner who can be a bit critical. Highlights included the shrimp and chicken liver appetizers, as well as the scallops that my wife chose to accompany a salad as a main course. A burger was offered from the lounge menu for my young daughter and it was outstanding. (I ate the leftovers happily later) I later spoke to a gentlemen I knew who had been arriving as we left. He and his wife had decided to drop by on a whim and both ended up having the prime rib and being very impressed. They spent more than they were intending, but good food and service such as offered here doesn't come at a bargain-basement price. They, and we, will be back without doubt, probably many times.
