The sushi is so good, it might make you cry… In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgment. We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and read. But the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, The average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defence of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations, new ideas. Casa Moncayo is that new thing I will defend it with my life. In my humble opinion, it’s is difficult maybe impossible to describe Casa Moncayo’s sushi without sound hyperbolic. Whoever the Chef is, their sushi is so incredible, in the sense of rather impossible to believe. It is also literally awesome: actually inspiring awe. This is sushi that makes on feel overwhelming, unnameable, deep feelings, jettisoning mere thoughts way overboard. They say a man never steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man. I would like to step into this river again… Thanks you

Our party of 5 had a mixture of tapas, burgers and sushi. All we’re excellent the service from Alqaez was superb from dealing with our 7 year old to moving a parasol to give us shade. Will be coming back!
