The Brit - San Jose

I came for the dogfish head 90 minutes ipa. the BCC(Fries, 2 sausages and baked beans) was nothing to call home, but was not terrible. should have been cheaper.

Mediocre food, slow and inattentive service. I can understand mediocre food, but it wasn’t even busy and I couldn’t get the server’s attention to close out the bill. Once I did, he was gone for a long time and then returned with the question, “so what did you have?” Not a great sign. It took 12 minutes to close out the bill and, like I said, it wasn’t even busy.” This is not acceptable for an airport based eatery where schedules can be tight.

How can a place that claims to be British have such tasteless fish and chips? The fish was dripping grease, the soggy breading slid off, and all of it was bland. Even liberal vinegar and salt didn't help. Maybe some California law makes them do something different? Better to take it off the menu. That said, very friendly staff, good music, reasonable prices for an airport. Oh, and only one British beer.

Sat outside. No one came by for about 20 minutes, I went in and asked the bartender if they were seating outside. The bartender asked a server if they were taking tables outside, and said we'd be checked on. Five minutes later, the server comes by, says they're not talking tables outside, because it's getting busy. We go inside. Five minutes later, he checks on the table near us, but doesn't acknowledge us at all. We finally left and went somewhere else. Might be back, probably not. Edit: Seated, and served in about ten minutes at San Jose Joe's. I'm eating my sausages and eggs right now.

The service was ok. The food that I saw and the food I ate (shepherds pie) was awful. The veggies were not very fresh. The shepherds pie was mashed potatoes sitting on top of ground beef with a heap of ground cheddar topping it.
