Bidra med feedbackQuick and friendly service. The sandwich (lemongrass pork was what I expected, very fresh and overall tasty. I asked someone waiting if they?ve eaten here before, and they said everyday : I just had the one item but if it?s what you get I suspect you?ll agree.
Overall, pretty disappointed for a $10 sandwich. I was originally going to Cafe Dolci, but they had run out of banh mi. I quickly looked up a place and chose here. I noticed the outdoor seating and the trendy decor. I went in and immediately saw the difference in pricing listed on yelp. Sandwiches were $9+ and other items were more expensive. I saw they have a happy hour from 3pm-6pm, where sandwiches were $6, but for dine in only. It seemed pricey, but a lot ofpeople were eating here after 2pm, so it can't be that bad. I ordered the five spice chicken sandwich and it came to be $10 total. I waited about 10 minutes before it came out. The sandwich was so small for the price I paid. I guess Ishould have expected this, since it is in the heart of the financial district and on market street. The sandwich was ok. I'm not sure why but half of it was spicy?? The bread was super toasted and extremely crunchy. The chicken seemed to bea little greasy, but not that much sauce. I was pretty disappointed in this sandwich for the price. I felt that the sandwich was small and only okay. I might come here for their happy hour prices, but most likely will not come back.
The service was exceptionally friendly and professional. The food was fresh and absolutely delicious.
The sauce was a bit too sweet for my liking, especially since the carrots already add a fair amount of sweetness. However, the tofu was crispy and flavorful. I also appreciated that the bread wasn't overly thick; it may have even been hollowed out, allowing the delicious fillings to stand out more. The addition of jalapeños was a nice touch, although it might be something to consider if you're not a fan of spicy food. I gave it four stars because I believe Dinosaurs, which has several locations in the city and serves similar dishes, does a better tofu bánh mì. Their tofu is shredded and fried, creating a texture that's much more interesting than just marinating it. On a positive note, the sandwich packaging (as shown in the attached photos) was aesthetically pleasing. Many places opt for plain white paper, so this thoughtful design made the food feel a bit more premium.
I had the Rainbow Bowl (a salad) with five-spice chicken, and it was incredible. Everything was super fresh, light, and full of flavor. I will definitely be back. The fried chicken bun looks amazing too. The prices are very reasonable!
