Breakaway Cafe - Saint Albans

Love this restaurant! Definitely a hidden gem! If you're new to the area, this restaurant is a staple of the Normandy/Bel-Nor area. I was born and raised in this area and the menu/atmosphere has always been welcoming and cozy! If you're looking for something that feels familiar with great food, this place is what you're looking for! Don't think I've had one bad thing from this menu. The Cajun shrimp cavatelli is amazing! Big portion and big taste! I'm a ranch and avocado lover, so I can go on and on about their avocado ranch on their California chicken salad! My personal fav is the ham and Swiss! Delicious! The staff is great and the customers are just as great! Enjoy eating at this staple establishment!

Fantastic find. I needed a place to have lunch in a more casual setting while waiting for my next appointment. I was seated and immediately relaxed. Impressive menu and my lunch was excellent. Tina was my server and one could not ask for better service. Attentive without making me feel rush. Emphasis was on everything was on my schedule. Came back for a carry out later in the afternoon. If I ever get the chance will be back and will ask for Tina!

I showed up with a date about 8, knowing that the restaurant closed at 9. Plenty of time to get food and get out. It wasn't my first visit, so I already knew the food was good. My date and I decided to get a pizza to share. It was the best Hawaiian pizza I'd ever had, and I spent several years making pizzas for a living. It had a perfect balance between sweet, cheesy, and meaty, and even though I normally don't care for onions on my pizza, they enhanced the other flavors well instead of overpowering them and were cooked perfectly. When it came time for them to close, we went to leave, but the worker told us that he were welcome to stay and enjoy our date longer so long as we didn't mind him watching hockey while we talked. The price was very reasonable, but when we went to pay, we were told to keep our money and just enjoy the rest of our evening. So, great food, service, and prices, the place is clean and well-kept, and there are things on the menu that would fit any taste. Seriously, the menu ranges from pastas and pizzas to cold cut sandwiches to stir fry. There are even multiple items that would be suitable for vegetarians. I had already planned to come back after previous visits, but after this visit, I'm not sure if I plan to go anywhere else.

Have been here many times. I love their house salad. Also their prices are really fair. They had closed and I was sad, but then hear they were open again. So ya!! Their pizzas are good too. Give them a try!

My party of 11 had a reservation on a weekday afternoon recently. Our table was ready when we arrived and received a friendly welcome. From the very beginning, the service and food were great, and nobody had any complaints about anything, to my knowledge. Very professionally run place, and friendly. Some of the food people ordered included pizzas (thin crust yay! , fish sandwich, chicken parmesan sandwich, salad with chicken, and my half order of cannelloni with salad, the day's lunch special. Everyone was very pleased with their food.
