Amighetti sandwich ordered my daughter a truthahn with cheddar. what no one told us they were from cheddarkäse. what a deli has not even cheddarkäse? and then they didn't even tell me about the flea mouse that they made the sandwiches and then had to come out and tell me that it was too late for my daughter to even order a sandwich. the owner was too busy talking to someone on the phone, even doing something about it, and the girl that took my order was not to find anywhere to even help.
Fantastic eating! very affordable! bold, rustic aromas, and a selection of two option that allows them to taste a lot of almost everything. try this place on a recent trip to st. louis, and we will definitely return. we have everything on the photo (soup, garlic bread, crostinis, 2 half sandwiches, pasta and meatballs) plus 3 desserts, all for less than $45. the garlauchbrot was simple, but put on the perfect balance of crispy and chewing. the suppe was a unique and hearty tomato basil with a tweeper, built on a thick, cloby, but melt-in-your mouth texture. they think of french woof, but with a chopped tomato base instead of bark stock. the salmon and spinach meatballs were rich and wonderful, served in a divine tomato cream sauce as a comforting baby cloth. the white bean on the crostinis was exploded with rosmarin, a pleasant surprise! and the desserts were fantastic! I love that they were small enough to justify attempting to share with 4 people instead of the great commitment of their typical brick size, 6$ hunk of super rich dessert. we tried the pistachios canoli and the candied orange canoli, both excellent (I recommend the oranges) and the amaretto brownie that my children said was the most perfect brownie ever the texture and taste were both amazing! family owned, and the owner and the personal cared for us. hospitality as it should be. I guess you can't go wrong here!
I know that the property was changed. I wasn't even here. but did they have to change the brot? the fresh, hard crust bread was one of the best parts over the sandwich. Now it was just a sponge brot. one of my favorite sandwiches (the special one) is not the same. I can't believe I'm the only one who thinks that.
I grew up in STL in the 70s, 80s and 90s. My mom used to bring the sandwiches home from work occasionally and I even took college friends there to experience what I considered the best sandwiches anywhere.Are there for the first time in about 5+ years and something changed. The bread wasn't crunchy (very soft) which changed the entire experience.Parents told me ownership changed and I was very disappointed. Definitely not the place I remember.
