Wolf In The Woods - S San Diego

Ever since cafe Chloe closed I was left with an empty space in the San Diego restaurant scene. This place has just filled that void. Very very cozy spot with great food. Had one of my best dates with my girlfriend. Tried to make a reservation 3 times with no luck. Ended up just a random day walking in and getting a table.

Meh. Three letters say it all. Over hyped. The food tasted good, don’t get me wrong but the portions were a one bite per person type menu which I say why? For the price you can easily up the ante. Sooo many better places in SD for the price. Our waitress promptly cleared our table without even asking if we wanted to order more food, which we were waiting to order a second bottle of wine and more plates. Gives one a sour taste when you feel pushed out.

Delightful tapas restaurant in Mission Hills. The Hen in the woods mushrooms with polenta and the Carne adobada were standouts. Excellent vanilla Panna cotta for dessert.

Second time dining here and it did not disappoint! Spencer our server was spot on with service and recommendations. We tried about 6 dishes between the table and all were great. The wine list is amazing and they had a lot of great wines we had not tried before. The inside is so cute and cozy. Great place.

I am massively unimpressed with this place. The prices are outrageous for the quantity of food per plate, I get that it's tapas, however these are exceptionally small lackluster tastings for the price. The ambience and the waitress were great. The olives are disgusting. The fish was too fishy. The Duck, prosciutto and corn soup were all delightful. I asked for a couple extra green beans to be subbed for the squash I didn't want and they couldn't accommodate that. The chocolate cake for some 15+ bucks came out in a baby food jar, it was literally smaller than a slice of free cake you get at any other place free for your birthday. I think they're really taking advantage of you price-wise for the flavor and portions, I will not be back, I don't support establishments I walk away hungry from after $150.
